FS: 2001 Berlina Black S2000
For Sale is my 2001 Berlina Black S2000. This car is very well known throughout the S2000 community and middle USA. As a moderator on S2KI.com my reputation is excellent and I have been a fixture at regional meets for the last four years.
I will be finishing school in December and starting a professorship. It's very difficult to sell the car but I will be needing the cash for a down payment on a house.
As many people know I leaned out cylinder 3 on the Dragon in the Fall of 2002. This threw a rod bearing and put the cylinder 3 rod through the block.
Instead of getting a used engine from a junkyard I bought a brand new OEM short block and rebuilt the engine from scratch. All of the follow-up work was completed by HardTopGuy's tech Dave (probably the most experienced S2000 mechanic in the USA). I had the head milled down, slightly increasing the compression ratio. As the car stands now the engine is amazing. Of the very few people other than myself that have driven this car they are routinely caught off guard by how potent the rebuild is.
The soft top, window and leather are all in great condition. I have been meticulous in their care. I will gladly give the new owner a lesson in how to properly care for these surfaces.
All of the work done on this car, with the exception of the engine swap, has been done personally. Past a break-in period I have only used synthetic oil in the new engine. Brake fluid is Super Blue, Diff fluid is LE, and MTF is GM Syncromesh.
I recently won the award for cleanest car SESM 2007.

for what its worth I dont beleive 90% of the stuff I hear on here about how well a car was cared for, But for the 1st time in a long time I believe that this car was taken very good care of and I am almost pissed the I didnt see this car ten day's ago because I would not have bought an Evo I would have got this quick fast and in a hurry(but everone said that) nice car Good Luck with the sale, OH yeah why did you lean out #3 do you know...?
Thanks for the positive comments.
There are plenty of people that can support what you said as well. A number of members on these boards as well as S2Ki.com. Tons of people saw it at the recent Honda-Tech meet in Nashville (that was when my BBS LM's were still on it).
There is a very specific reason that C3 leaned out. The 00' and 01' short blocks are notorious for having poor oil delivery with high lateral acceleration. In 02' Honda made changes to the short block to fix these problems. The new short block is the updated AP1 block.
We have discussed this problem a number of times in the racing and competition forums on s2ki. The only fixes are to run a race pan, update your short block or just hope for the best. It really takes a number of factors to line up and result in the problem, one you need enough contact patch and/or R-compounds to hold the road and a sufficiently twisty stretch of road or track. The Dragon in east Tennessee just happened to be all of that for me.

I dropped the price from 16,900 to 16,000 which is where it will stay.
This is an extremely good price for this car with it's mods and engine. The Amuse lip alone is $592.80 from bulletproof new and unpainted.
