Default Best budget DD tire for the R

I'm looking for a cheap set of tires for my R in 205/50, I've searched although just wondering what the current opinion is on the best "budget" tire.

Dunlop Direzza? Es100's?

For DD, I liked the Dunlop SP9000's

I've heard nothing but good stuff on the ES 100's too.

Kuhmo Ecsta SPT

71 a piece which includes shipping.

You can get the DZ101 for $68 from them as well.

Edit - I have the SPT's and love them. They do well in the SFL rain, have great dry traction and did well for me on the track as well. I highly recommend them.

Not sure if it is available in that size, but the BFgoodrich G-force sport is pretty good too.

The three websites I've checked are discount tire, tirerack, and edge racing, any other hidden gems w/ great pricing out there?

How good are those kumhos in comparison to a tire like the Hankook 212's? Any summer rebates going this year?

Ive had Yokohama AVS ES100 for over 20000 miles now and they still have decent tread left (as in i havent hydroplaned in water yet *knocks on wood*). Several autocrosses, spirited driving, rain; these things handled it all. Even had em on during a Ohio winter with several snowstorms (which i wouldnt recommend) and was able to get out of 5 inches of snow with a bit of difficulty but hey, they did it (tho i wont try that again). They are great DD tires in my book and although i might try Kumho Ecsta SPTs next since ive heard good things about them, id recommend the ES100s to anyone.

Quick question: SPT owners, what kind of tread life have you seen?

I've got the General UHP on my G35. Sidewall is really good and are excellent in the rain. Not sure about 205/50 size tho.

Im around 10K miles with what looks like a good amount of thread. And I used these tires at Expo 7 as well.

Has anyone tried both the es100's and the SPT's?

If so, which has a firmer sidewall?

i think you will like them, i had them on my first set of wheel, and them handled very good, and performed great for me in the rain they didnt wear too fast either seeing as they had a 300 utoq wear rating

sometimes you'll find rebates for dunlop and kumho tires from tirerack and discount tire... either straight from the distributor or the the manufacturer... so that'll apply to the above mentioned direzza's and spts - both great dd tires

"ricer request of the day"

Anyone have a well lit shot of these tires (SPT's) mounted on 15" rims (preferably 205 50's). ???

Use this post as reference about the tires. The prices on the tires have changed, of course. Should you decide to order the SPT's in 205/50-15, the are not currently available through http://www.tirerack.com, so you'll have to order then from http://www.tires.com.

The rebate in that post is also unavailable, that was last years promotion.

Other then that, the information should still be valid.

I could get you a few well lit shots of the SPT's. It will take me a few days though. Depending on when I get home, sometimes it's dark.

I really like the SPT's, I bought them with the information provided in the above link. Read nsxtacy's post, it's quite informative. And eventually, the Wheel Master Yoda will post here in this thread.
