Default USDM vs JDM Transmission Internals... Same?

I need to replace the sleeve set on my m2a4. If I buy a set off of Majestic or from the dealer, are the parts the same? Pretty straight forward question.

Thanks guys,
Chad

if the gear ratios are identical and its the same make and model of automobile i dont see why not...unless the synchros vary in dimension...when in doubt ask the dealership

The dealership isn't going to know about JDM parts!

I'd imagine they're mostly the same, but there might be some differences. I don't think anyone one the board can answer your question with 100% certainty unless they've rebuilt a JDM trans using USDM parts. I've only rebuilt USDM transmissions myself.

Yea. The dealer definately won't know. I have been searching on a lot of boards and most everyone says that all lude trannys were JDM anyways, so it should work. The gear ratios are not the same though. an M2F4 (usdm) has a shorter 4th and fifth gear then the m2a4 (jdm). I am not replacing the gears though. So I don't know.

Anyone else?

AFAIK the differences between the JDM & USDM transmissions are in the bell housing & final drive/differential bolt pattern. That's why aftermarket differentials (like the quaife) & aftermarket final drives (like the m-factory) do not fit in the JDM 4th & 5th generation transmissions.

i thought 160 is a pretty good deal.
How sure are people that the quafie LSD doesn't fir the JDM transmission? I have read multiple posts that says it is not a problem for the m2a4

Wow, back from the dead.

The 160 is the sleeve and the gears.

As for the quaife, I have no idea....
