my car was stolen and striped. they took my h22 type s witch was modded to hit 12 on pump gas. anyway, i was looking into buying a 2005 350z nismo but came across this itr (1998-822)
that was at a good price. i boght it and here i am.

My questions are,

Why do people make such fuss over this car?
i personally think that is not as fast as people made them out to be.

what should i get the engine as far as mods to gain torque, becaouse this car has no take off power.

what cams?
headers?
Cold air intake?

i already have a hondata s200 chip ready to put on but do i need to change anything else to get it to work?

Plus the history that made up the Type R. Take it to a track Willow Springs or Button and learn how the car turns and handles.

Don't do anything, save your money for the track time.

Calm down a little people will respond when they get a chance. Waiting 14 minutes between your first post to your second is ridiculous.

Ya anyways, learn the car and you will see what all the fuss is about. Just do the maintenace stuff and you will be OK.

Well i Just went to the local track and i raced my friends 89 civic si with a stock 500$ engine. B20 no vtech. he took me by half a car...
thats bull man. im a good driver. good with switching gears and all and i weight 150. whats up with tha ****? im not here to bash on the R man, i own 1. but i know whats fast and what's not. and the r is average compared to all the cars i driven. STI, EVO,SRT,My H22A,B20 with b16 head, lsv-tech and more cars. just my opinion.

Sell the car to someone who cares about the ITR.

And get yourself a faster car.

seriously not worth it, you have Hondas Best fwd engine until 2002 and you arent happy with it. if all you appreciate is a fast car, for sure sell it. a gutted hatch with a k20 should make you happy. also, look at your valve cover, it shows you how to spell VTEC

1. this statement shows that you know nothing about the car and where it came from.
2. you truly have no intent on knowing what it can do
3. should sell it

i have only had type-r for 2 years 1st year being stolen and this one. i have learned alot from the people here. now since i know a little about the car and what it is i give it the respect it needs.

as people said you dont want to respect the car give/sell it to someone that will.

The ITR wasn't ranked the 9th best car of all time & the best front wheel drive car for its speed i'll tell you that much. Keep digging - I had to at first in order to understand.

You'll never understand. In 1997-98 there was no STI or EVO. How can you even compare to those cars? Also they are in a different class and they're boosted.

Hey. I have a S4 that I would love to trade you for your car. It has 2 turbo's that should make for alot of fun if you want to go fast. Send me some info on the car and we can set this up.

You lack of caring about it will have it end up like your last car.

It is a free country and you are certainly free to do what you want with your ITR. However, it is clear the ITR is not the best choice for your requirements.

It was designed by Honda as a track-ready machine. It is certainly not the fastest car in a straight line - not even the fastest car on a track. But - it is the best handling FWD car ever to leave an automotive factory and the driving experience (particularly on a course that has turns) is extremely unique and matched by only a precious few cars - most of which are very expensive. If you are not interested in any of these characteristics, then you would be better off swapping it for something else.

Follow everyone else's responses and sell it, not for you and never will be, it's not meant to be a drag car, it's meant for the track and mountain runs. Do us all a favor and sell it someone who understands the car for what it is. to you for buying a Type R.
