Default Solo-Baric L7 (the square sub)

I was wondering how hard these things hit, and would 1 12" be pretty good in my civic coupe??

I am not going for competition or anything, just want some more bass.

And would 500 watts be enough to power it????

Cool, is there really any difference between the L5 and the L7, or is the L5 jsut older??

Also, what are some of the best prices you have seen, and where??

Thanks for the fast reply!!

1 12L7 will hit very hard depending on how you run it. It will kick the hardest in a ported box with 500-1000 watts. However, if you run a ported box, please make sure your amp has a subsonic filter, otherwise you run the risk of blowing your sub. If you run a sealed box, then no subsonic filter is needed.

As for pricing, L7's (which handle more power) for for $150-200 on ebay. L5's (which handle less power) go for less.

Do you think that this would be a good setup for a guy who doesnt want to fill his whole trunk with subs, but still wants hard hitting bass??

Thanks for all the responses!!!

in your situation, Id get the L5. You dont need the greater power handling of the L7, and you can put that money saved to the amp. The only reason Id get the L7 is if your gonna put more power to it later.

Ok, thanks.

I was thinking the same thing after I did some research and found the L5 handles up to 600 watts RMS which is more power than I will give it.

the solo L5 is just a cheaper version, the L7 is the top model of the square series. ill be having 3 L7s behind my seat soon. im building the box presently. i got the subs cheap so i went for it. gonna be using one kicker amp to pull all three, 1 channel 1200 watts. heres a pic of the box im doing. remember its currently in the works. no finish coat yet.

I guess you really are "krazy" are you going into competition??

BTW, I heard 2 L5 10"s and I think I will get an L5 12", 500 watt amp, and call it a day as far as subs are concerned.

Thanks for all the help you guys!!!!

actually no competition. im trying to be as much show as i am go. im doing this all myself too, freaken i hate getting the run around from shops on building a custom box that costs an arm and a leg, so i decided to do it myself. after im done ill be covering this with CF as well. 1 L5 12" would do very fine, and u wont be sorry. good luck man.

i like the box you are building just make sure you use plenty of fiberglass (try to get about 1/2" thickness. kicker is price protected so if you are finding "cheap" solo's they are probably b-stock. as long as they carry a factory warrenty you should have nothing to worry about

thanks man. yea im thickening it up, damn the smell of fiberglass is deadly....stings my eyes sometimes when working close. naw i got the kickers from a friend that gets em at wholesale, or a lil above wholesale. he used to have a shop, but now he works at al and ed's as installation manager. so he hooked me up fat....now i gotta find a deal for the kicker kx1200.1 amp...wonder if he can get that too...
oh.. and i got full warranty on the subs. cant wait to put em in.
