Default Intake Manifold Selection, B20Z non-vtec w/403’s

I’m looking to see if anyone has any input on how the Performer X intake manifold will perform on a non-vtec; I’ve got a B20Z with all the usual bolt on modifications and Crower 403 camshafts (https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1884634), I was thinking of either getting the Skunk2 Pro series manifold, the Performer X, or keeping the stock manifold.

I’m not sure if for my application that the Performer X is worth the money/hassle with the fitment issues and what not. As far as the Skunk2 it’s cheaper and the install is easier, but I’ve heard mixed results from the non-vtec crowd.

Things to consider, I’m on stock compression and the bottom end will stay that way for a long time, if not forever. Also, the revs won’t exceed 7,100 rpm.

I’ve searched and I’ve seen all the Performer X vtec dynos, but I’m just curious to see how they’ll relate to the non-vtec motors.

Thanks,

i've heard good things about both the skunk2 and Performer X, though more so with the performer X. the longer runners on it should help your low end a bit.

Yeah, that’s what I’ve seen based on Mikey Spec’s test on a relatively heavily modified B18C1. I’d just hate to shell out all that cash for the manifold, install, and retune and end up with marginal gains all because the low revving non-vtec engine couldn’t take full advantage of the manifold.

But being a trailblazer is bad, look at Greg Oden...
I’m thinking I’m going to get the Performer X and be the first, but does anyone think there is any reason why I wouldn’t have results similar to those of the B18C1’s running this manifold? I don’t want to shell out the cash for the manifold and install and have Skunk2/Blox manifold results because I don’t rev high enough or my engine does “flow” enough.
I guess I'm just in need of some reassurance, then I’ll go forth and be a non-VTEC pioneer.

I'm making good Non-Vtec power with my Skunk2 Pro I/M and Hondata I/M Gasket. I've seen even better torque curves and numbers with a stock GSR Manifold with the butterfly valves removed as compared to the Victor or Skunk2.
