Default Best way to spend $1000 on your EP3 motor.

Start putting out some answers people!!!! I wanna see what are the more popular ways to spend $1000 on your K20A3 engine or trans.... Please no suspension stuff.

I am looking to do some stuff and besides forced induction (later down the road) I wanna know what are other big power gainers.

*NOTE*

I already have an AEM cold air intake w/ Megan racing header, hi flow cat, and magnaflow cat back.

Hondata reflash
Cams n valvetrain
Or an a2 head(not sure how much they go for)
No real big power gainers unless u save up ur money for boost.

Assuming you'll tune I'd would say cams or high compression pistons.

I would put it in a money market account and earn 5% interest....

There are no big power getters for the ep3 with 1000.

Here is what you would need to even think of big power getters
kpro-875
cams-600
valvetrain-250?
RBC IM-150?
RH-250
better exhaust-500

By that time you mine as well slap a SC on the car for 2700.

If I had 1000$ to spend on my ep again here is what I would do with it (all over the place)

But here is my thought. You most likely do not have a high flow cat, but rather a test pipe. If you don't mind making the air you breath worse then get a race header used for 250. I then would take the rest, and get a set of decent coilovers. If you have anything left get an rsx ctr rear sway bar and some esmm's. Then I would get some good tires.

Crower Cams Kit.

You get a Stage I, II, or III cam
Crower Dual-Valve Springs
Crower Titanium Retainers

all for $1,259.00.

A little over your $1000 budget, but it'll unlock some serious power potential.

Crower has been making cams for over 70 years. The quality will be great and you WILL see power gains from them.

Where does the other 875 come from for kpro?? Tell me you are going to install cams without kpro? Go take a hike. He needs better supporting mods before he gets cams IMO.

expletive if you want speed just put some nitrious on it and call it a day. My friend still has an ep3 and is running a 30shot without kpro and runs 14.2 with i/rh/e. His A/F ratios are perfect with the jets they give you with the kit. That is what I would do if I went and did it again and wanted power.

Plus when he purges it the look is priceless

Invest that 1000$ in AAPLE. Enjoy your life for 2-3 years then youll have enough for a decent turbo setup.

What kind of power do you gain from just getting KPRO. I know the full tuning ability would just make it worth it for any mods I get in the long run.

I am perfectly fine with the intake and exhaust setup I am running now. I think it sounds wonderful and it seems a little quicker than stock EP3s that I have test driven. I was thinking about valve train work just because of the help for high revs and stuff.

Depends on the mods. 5-8whp from a decent tune on kpro. It will not only just give you more power though, it will also adjust your lean spots, smoother a/f and I would say adjust vtak but the a3 has the fake one but really. I would get suspension and tires if you are set on what you have now.

You DONT need kpro to run stage 2's either, but if you want your car to run correctly do it right the first time and get what you need before buying parts that depend on each other and not getting kpro before cams.

The "biggest" power getter at this point for you would be either K-Pro, which can be had for a good bit under a grand, or Skunk2 Stg. 1 cams which can be had for 560-580 shipped. Personally, K-Pro isn't going to be a huge increase in power at this point, but the A3 likes the increase to a 7700 rpm redline and the adjustability that it offers to you and your setups down the road.

If you do plan on going Turbo/SC/swap/cams at any point, just go ahead and do yourself a favor and pick up some K-Pro sweet lovin'.

I noticed the stage 2 cams stating: "Street/Race cam designed for engine with free-flowing intake and exhaust tracts, increased compression, and upgraded valvetrain."

I have a T1R race header, test pipe and T1R exhaust, and a Fujita CAI... does that justify getting the stage 2 instead of stage 1? me=lost
