Default Anyone here own a 2007/2008 TL-S 6MT?

Since majority here are type R owners, I just wanted to get feedback on how the TL-S compares with the Rs' handleling? Is it even worth dumping money into a 6-10 year car when you have a TL-S as an option? Two completely different cars ergonomically and for daily purpose use, but with the same badge. TIA guys for any input.

One is a luxury car, with a sport package. The other is a full function and form track car.

Take a guess.

I've driven the TL-S a bunch. For a young professional its a great car. Smooth, quick, and handles ok. BUT it is a heavy car. Understeer is a problem, but for a spirited DD its great. Honsestly, if you're asking this question, I think you already know what you want to do. Sell the R and get the TL

I own both and I tell you they are very different cars. My R is fairly stock when it comes to power-adders and I swear the TL-S is faster in a straight line. When it comes to braking and handling, there is no comparison. The TL is a lot of fun to drive but is nothing like the R. The R has a very raw feeling and you have a very connected feeling to the road where that is not there in the TL (which I am glad). Go and test drive one, you'll see what I am talking about. The TL is very smooth, LOADS of torque, comfortable seats, XM radio, Navigation, HID's, etc. If I didn't have kids, I would probably have G37 coupe.

Whenever I drive the ITR, I always get the local ricers asking about the car and drooling over seeing an actual real ITR at the gas station. I have more people ask me about the TL than the ITR.

Feels really heavy around corner and a typical America made product to go straight and comfortable. It is not exported anymore to JDM land because it is just too american taste. It gets blend in with lots of housewife TL's out there if you are looking for individuality.

I disagree with that completely. I get more attention in the TL-S than my ITR. Whenever my wife drives it she tells me about some ***-hat that was revving on her trying to get her to race. I also have ghetto-drug-dealer-dark tint on mine so you can't see the driver at all. It looks good on a black car with the dark gun metal wheels.

The only way that I think that the ITR and TL-s are similar is that they both have a A badge on the front.

Thank you Bradstard for your input. I did actually test drive one today and boy it was sweet. Comfort and some good power under the hood. I did like the fact that the MT shifted the way it did. I was contemplating on getting the R, but I might just consider the type-S. You can easily dump 5-12K ont the R, but in everyday driving and for security reasons the TL-S is a perfect alternative.

i was in debate with myself between the TL and TSX. I choose the TSX... 4-6k cheaper, slower by a second in the quarter mile, but cleaner looking imo, very similar options and you can get jdm as **** with it lol

The TSX is no where near the TL-S. Did you actually drive them both? If you want a car you can modify then the TSX would be a better choice.

Also, the BMW 335 base price as the same as the TL-S. That is without HID's, with pleather interior, no Navigation, no bluetooth, ete etc. The torque of the 335 is amzaing though! If backseat space is a concern then a 3 series BMW is not for you. For features and performance, the TL-S is a great car for the money.

Nice feedback, Bradstard. But for overall DD-ability...was the S-package really worth it over the base model TL?

I've seen a few TL-S's on the road and only saw ONE with a male driver. It is strange that so many women chose to upgrade to the S? I'm not calling it a chick car, because I'd drive one as a DD in a heartbeat. Just thought it was peculiar.

The majority of TL-S drivers around my area are female as well. Great car though; I'd get one for my wifey.

I really needed the Navigation system for finding new potential clients easily. Once you add the navigtion to a base TL it is only a $2000 upgrade to the Type S. I also really wanted a 6 speed and with 2007's you can only get a 6 speed on the Type S. There are other little things that the Type S has over the base model, but not much.

Yeah, my ladie has a BMW 325i 06 and it is small. THe TL-S is great ride at 40,000. The 325i was around the cost of a TSX.....so BMW at that price is better deal, but the new BMW's are around the TL-S........go with the Acura in this case.

Unless you put a turbo timer on the 335i

Bradstard, thanks for your input. Just wondering how many miles on your vehicle and have you noticed any type of engine pinging when driving when windows are irolled down? Any type of clunking noise in your TL-S rear suspension? TIA

My grandma bought a silver type S. Automatic though.....its still sweet.

The paddle shifting is kinda cool i prefer the shift lever though. I had a chance to play with it while I drove up Pike's Peak over the summer. It was alot of fun brakes nice and handles well for a car of its size. I was also impressed on how easy it was to park.

The navigation is still sort of a novelity to me, I couldn't see myself using it on an everyday basis, but it was nice when we were out of town and had no idea where to go.

Sound system awesome!

The 6 speed, I have only had a chance to drool on the window as I pressed my face against the glass....jk
