What are my options?

ALSO: If you're local to the DFW area and looking for some quick cash or maybe non-Honda parts, swing by and do it for me...
put car in 5th gear, have someone hold brakes. Put a breaker bar on the socket with as short an extension as possible. climb around front of car and slide under on ur ***, grasp bumper with hands, and push with ur foot. I did this with only a 24" half inch drive breaker bar, a 1 inch extension and a shallow socket. My impact gun wouldnt budge that thing, but the method I just listed broke it free in all of about 4 seconds. It worked good for me several times now!! Good luck

99teggsr, I may build the tool described in that write-up, looks like it works good.
gator88, we actually tried that as well, to no avail. The drivetrain had just enough slack in it to make the job impossible using that method.

if you can build that tool go for it for sure since that is the best route. I too had a lot of flex, slack whatever, but i still could get it. You dont have a really big ratchet do ya that you could start up top and "flex out" toawards the part that needs the real leverage angle?

ghettooo magical....
take out the plug closest to the pulley and verify its at the bottom of its stroke. Coil some soft cotton rope in there and bring the piston to tdc (well as far as it can go) theres now more than enough resistance to break the bolt loost, its how i do it on my motors.

I've got the best 1/2" impact that matco makes and sometimes it doesn't cut it...but a 3/4" impact never fails, comes off like it was finger tight
If you deal with them alot, I suggest going to get a 3/4" or 1" impact, even a cheapie from harbor freight or northern works wonders

I had the exact smae problem before using all sorts of methods, the easiest way it came off for me was a chain wrench on the end pully (i dont use it anyway) and had it against the front crossmember- held it in place no problem.
If you don't have a friend to hold the brake and you are using manual tools, you can just take your jack handle, board or whatever you have put it between the seat and brake pedal and push the seat forward to hold the brake pedal down tightly...I do it all the time, works great lol

What the hell does the brake have to do with the crank pulley?
We are not talking about drive axels here

Yeah it works for axels too lol, but you can bust a crank bolt by putting the car in high gear and holding the brake this will hold the motor from turning over so you can bust the crank bolt loose
I had the same problem. NOTHING was getting it off. I used a 1/2 breaker bar with a 6ft cheater pipe and it finally broke loose. I had the engine out of the car when I did it though, I use a screwdriver through the flywheel to hold it in place.
I built the tool linked to above, using 1/8" steel. Soaked the bolt in PB about 10 minutes before, then again about 5 minutes before, hit it with a hammer, attached tool, went at it, and wound up somehow breaking the steel rod in half. This thing is SEIZED.
I'm going to have a friend come over and try the high gear + brake method again, now that I have a bigger extension to work with and can do it out of the engine bay. After that I'll be trying the rope trick, and if that fails, I'm renting a damn Uhaul trailer and taking it to a shop.
The sad part, out of all of this, is that there's a local D16 for sale on craigslist for $300, and as of right now, I've got $279 into towing, various tools, etc... yet I have everything needed for the damn engine swap. These cars are dumb

I did this last week. It took me 2 weeks in the making... I can only work on the whip on the weekends.
I tried every way known to man kind. tons of friends would come and try to help and nothing.
We could not lock the puley enough to jump on a breaker bar and remove the bolt. and when we did, we were moving the whole engine.
I hit it with the biggest electric Impact gun in the market... Nothing.
Sprayed Pb blaster and let it sit over night for days.. Nothing...
I was sooo pissed.. I finally called all the Tool rental centers around and
rented a 1000lbs of torque air gun plus a gas powered compressor.
NOTHING!!
I only hit it for about 3 minutes...
I kept hitting it while I was telling my boy to go get a For sale sign this crap aint coming off, when it did
Imo you'll never remove that POS with out air tools. I paid 100 bucks to remove that bolt.

I say fill the radiator full of water, take heaps of water with you and drive that sob to a local mechanic and ask them to break the bolt for you, they did it for me when my water pump was on the brink. They had to use a 3/4 drive and something like 1500 lb/ft.
