oh how much i hate my ef right now.
So i was on my way to honda day yesterday, and all of a sudden my b16 starts cutting out and pullin back on me. i pulled over and shut it off for a couple of mins. i started it back up and it ran fine for the rest of the ride there. but on the way home, i went through one toll and had to slow down to wait for a friend and the car just suddenly stalled on me out of no where. started it up again and started back on the highway. about 25 mile from my house on the pa turn pike my car throws a cel and just starts shutting down then coming back on the shutting down then coming back on. had to get it towed to a friends house.
im going to try this new dizzy i got and see if that fixes it. oh yeah it also turns out ive had ls plug wires on my car for 2 years and they are a half an inch to short
any input would be appreciated

I've seen bad coils do this too (like on my B16 rex) so if replacing the dizzy make sure your also replacing the coil. What code did the CEL spit out?? find that out before just throwing a new dizzy at it, it will SUCK to spend that money for nothing. have you pulled your dizzy cap off yet? make sure the rotor button screw did not vibrate out cause it will also cause this, at least visually check everything out before spending money blindly

they have been on for 2 years working fine and now you think it's GOTTA be the wires?? very unlikely, I still rec. the correct wires but I really doubt thats what caused this

I would also agree with JayturboEF and SiRed91... this has happened to me about three times in the last two years... check it out and let us know

yep, like I mentioned above <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by VtecSyndrome »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">make sure the rotor button screw did not vibrate out cause it will also cause this</TD></TR></TABLE> this is common, happend to me a couple times until I finally wised up and used locktite (blue kind) when I reinstalled it and it has not come out since other than the few times I replaced my rotor button.
I hope it is something this simple, nothing better than a problem turning into a free fix

I feel ya, one time my car stalled, wouldn't want to start.. was getting CELs and everything, would just keep cranking.. 2 minutes later a tow truck stopped by... he charged me $60 to tow it back home (which was literally 2 blocks away) and when I got home, I reset the hazard fuse and low and behold, the car started up fine...
Two or three weeks ago, on the highway, somehow.. my passenger fender liner ripped off and took my mudflap with it.. it also somehow managed to damage my passenger corner light ripping it out of the socket..... So many times I've thought about giving up on my EF, I just take a look at the rust that I can't afford to fix and my mind just tells me to get another car.. but I won't give up on her

i just bought an 01' crv last night and i think im done f*cking around with old hondas for now. i'm just gonna get it running good and sell it. gonna save some money till i can afford something in nice condition. when i bought itoff my friend, it was gutted already and the d motor didnt run. ive had nothing but problems ever since. when the b series was in my da it ran like a champ!
It needs someone who really know what they are doin when it comes to fine tuning an ef with a b series in it. but im sure when i get it running again i will change my mind and wanna keep it like i always do.

Lemme know what the deal is because when I drove my car on leave mine did the same time only in a faster span of time. I just said screw it and swap it since it's the HF engine but I would like to inform myself just incase it happens again.
BTW I replaced the dizzy and plugs & wires and it kept doing it..

well i still havnt got into the car yet. tomarrow morning when i get done work me and my boss are going to start looking into it. ive been so busy i havnt got to look at anything.
and as for the ac comp, its no different than any other b series ac comp. so if they are notorious for it than so would ls integras and em1 si's. unless your talking about a k series crv than i wouldnt know. i dont know **** about k series. nor do i care about them cause i could never afford one. and i work at a shop now so i could easily change it if it did go bad. i barely use it anyway. i just open all the windows. im just glad i have a regular whip that i dont have to worry about it breaking down on me. im deffinatly not putting any money into this thing!!!!!

ok so i put my old dizzy back on and the car started right up like nothing ever happened. ran good but i havent had a chance to dive it around long enough to see if the hesitation is gone. im thinking of replacing the feul filter to see if it might be clogged up.

I have no idea why, but when I read that I busted out laughing.
I'll buy your 89 si as it sits, you don't even have to fix it!

its running. turns out there was a tiny pin size hole int the dizzy cap. it was arching off my test light. so i put a new cap on it. but it still stalls out on its own. the mech i work with thinks its a problem in this shitty jhpusa conversion harness. i will sell the car for $3000 or best offer. look in my sig for details.
