Default Sometime in the distant future....

By distant, I mean, when $4000 lands on me like a brick falling from a building....

I would like to do a swap. It would wither be a B16B from the CTR or a B18C from a ITR. However, they come with manual transmissions....SO, to do a auto manual conversion requires...what? Mounting the hydraulics for the clutch, as well as the pedal, and shifter...and if I want it, the new center console...what else is involved?

How much does the labour on something like this cost, and what's a good way to find out where to do it? What is the labour on the swap as well? I don't wish to keep my auto, but if it is going to work, or if the manual swap is going to cost $1k or more, I will. If the swap from japan comes with the manual trans, the labour can't cost that much...
If I get it from Password: JDM, I assume it comes with everything I need? Can I reuse the stock exhaust? What if I catback it? Will the rest of it work? I think the ITR pre-98 has 4-1 headers. and the post 98 ITR has 4-2-1. So I would need new headers if I got the newer B18C?

The reason I want to know all these things is because after all my audio work is done, IF I still want a swap, I can start saving for it, If it is too much extra expense, I would just get another car....

PS: I would rather Swap, than turbo. I hate turbos.....people don't drive around in the upper quartile of their RPM range, thus the turbo doesn't do much. A supercharger on the other hand Runs off the engine pulleys, so though not as much power, it happens all the time? Yes? I am having Mudbutt of the mouth?

you have to understand, This is all about manipulating my parents.....SO buying another car, just for the transmission would be stupid to them......If I pay for upgrades to my car, and know what I am doing, or someone else does, they don't bat an Eye, car buying is totally different. Mostly because I am in high school....

I understand this, that's why I ask, because, if it is something I want to do, I will hold off on all performance anything, and save for it. If it's going to cost $5k-$6, I'll just CAI and catback, and wait a couple years and get another car with more power.

I was looking for some approximate labour cost pricing.

For labor alone on the auto to manual I would say around $600 and for the labor of the swap you are looking at $400-600.
