Default Looking to buy a 5th gen lude, have a question...

I was wondering what the majority of you guys have...5spd or auto?

I really want a 5spd because it's gonna be my first 5spd car but then I'm very picky about the color and epb is rare with a 5spd/base.

which will be more enjoyable in the long run? but then again you cant go wrong with a lude :X thanks

youre gonna be better off in the long run getting a 5 speed. the autos have been known to go out frequently...especially if you run high hp.

yeah i mean that sportshifter can be fun ( i pretend im playing that oldschool outrunner game). you can only do so much to an automatic tranny so if your looking to kind of race yor car then go manual.

I've got my eye on a 2001 Type SH with 69k....do you guys prefer SH or base?

Also, do you know if they made tanabe hyper medallions for the SH? =/

I've looked but I'm probably overlooking something. Thanks for the help

Get a 5 speed. Dnt waste ur time in auto. They make Tanabe for Sh 2. The problem with sh is that u have a ATTS (Active Torque Transfer System) tranny and u can never do a swap (thats if u want to) wo a custom mount because the tranny is different then the base tranny.

exhaust upgrades and mod availability isn't the downfall of the SH, its the fact that above roughly 250 whp u have 70lbs of deadweight. u can always just get a muffler shop to run the piping for ur exhaust. judging from u thinking about a low mileage SH, im guessing money is no problem? if thats the case, get a 5spd base and get the mild bolt ons + suspension upgrade.

5sp. Much more reliable, much more fun, and better gas mileage. Wait, why is this even a question?

What headaches? Ive never had any problems with my SH motor or my Type-S. The only problems you will have is if you ever plan on putting on an LSD or going for insane amount of power. Other than that the SH is a great car.

When the SH is pushed to its limits it will shut ATTS down, cause a horrible noise, and usually drop you right into limp mode. My friend used to AutoX one and he had nothing but problems with it. Buying a base 5spd just leaves your options wide open.

Let him buy the auto. He was thinking just like me. I wanted a 5th gen so bad that I said forget it, the auto will be just as fun as the 5speed. Not only did it fail at that but it failed period. The money I spent swapping to a 5speed I would probably of had a built block by now. Screw Autos. Im forever pissed at Honda for making a POS like that...

All the manual parts was about 1200 shipped. On top of that I bought a ACT clutch kit. I wouldn't recommend throwing a used OEM clutch kit in your car. Something that will probably have to be replaced in a few 1000 miles. You also got to think about labor for install unless you could do it yourself. I would have $2500 at least to be safe.

I would go with the base model 5speed. No sense going with an automatic if you plan on modifying the vehicle.
