What kind of turbo out there is small and reliable enuf to work on a SOHC Vtec? I am hoping to get 200whp not much more, and as of right now its 125, haha

Well if that is your budget, you might want to look away from the turbo. You can't even get the junk SSAutocrome kit on ebay for that much

I would say save and save and save one more time. Then with three saves you could have maybe 1500 which could get you to be able to piece something together that won't be as shitty as some. Plus, you can sometimes find a deal in the marketplace on here.

 

Yeah I could do that - but in that case, I think I would just keep saving for a new motor and then keep saving for turbo and do it all at once. The motor is super healthy but just turned 200,000 2 weeks ago ( Ima proud parent to that car now ) lol

I would just keep saving until you could afford something with a little more displacement and more hp/tq.

The B18b1 is cheap and mated with a B16/GSR tranny can be a nice DD until you are able to save up for a nice turbo set up, which could put you where your buddies are (400whp) with a build.

Like they have said... save until you have a little more money. Until then, enjoy the gas mileage

I don't think you have to worry about smog as much as other people do (or maybe you do, I don't know) but that could be another potential factor.

If you are absolutely set on turboing what you've got, two things come to mind.

#1 GReddy Turbo Kit. 50 State legal if it matters to you and it's made for the car/engine.

#2 http://www.homemadeturbo.com

Either way, you might want to do a compression test and determine exactly how healthy your motor is.

 

the motor is healthy as can be - and i want relaible and cheap

 

save and piece your own kit together. it can be reliable as long as you put the money towards tuning.

on a budget for a D series i think a DSM 14b would suit you just fine and it has more potential than just 200whp

In any case, iVteC_PoWeR's suggestion is what direction I'm heading, going the home made turbo route but on a DOHC ZC. Low boost and proper tuning shouldn't be a big strain on the motor...if it is in fact "healthy"

ill handle your initial problem.......... to insert images you have to have them uploaded, somewhere like photbucket. once in photobucket, the picture has an IMG tag so can you copy and paste it in your post

as for turbos, not my specialty but everyone i know that gets a kit and wants to run "low boost" blows the motor within months. pretty hard not to turn the boost **** when it seems so accessible.
