Default Is my HID bulb out or is it my Ballast?

MY00 i purchased with about 115k mileage started having problems with its driver side HID headlight low beam.

at first it started to change colors, now it completely shut off.

when i try to turn it on, the blinks / flickers for a sec then it stays off.

wondering if someone could simply diagnoise this problem from this much information so i dont have to go through the trouble of testing out the bulb, ballast, etc.

and if someone gots the DIY / writeup on how to remove / install the HID bulb or ballast would be appreciated..

thanks

btw if i remove the fuse under the hood for "passenger side headlight" will it completely shut off that headlight without any damage? (so i can run my high beams temporary; obviously i will adjust it to aim down ) until i figure out how to fix my driver side

when i had hid's on my ep3 we had a problem hooking up the highbeam....it was a PNP, but we got it to where when we put the high beam on the low beam would go off and vice versa, we had to do some wiring. but every so often it would flicker and change colors from like blue to white. im pretty sure its something to do with the ballast.

p.s. i was thinking bout buyin your car before too and my homeboy i work with said he knows you his name is matt witht the red 4 door db8, thought id say whats up.

Ballast. If it was the bulb or igniter, it would not come on at all.

someone on s2ki told me to open my ballast cover and dry it out, most likely water is in there?

but i cant open it b/c the bolts are different, they have alot of little teeth and dont even know what tool is used to open it? anybody know?

edit: i went to buy the bolts that were used to open it. Torque Bit T-20 . but now i have no idea how to dry it b/c i dont have compressed air.. wonder if a blow drier will work?

it looks pretty dry to me though..

If there was water in there, the damage might have already been done, shorted circuits and all. If the blow dryer doesn't work, it's time for some new ballasts.

You may want to check out this link I recently found. I have spent $$$ THOUSANDS (plural) $$$ on aftermarket HID. Don't make the same mistake - FYI -. If you start replacing parts for the S2K make sure that they are dead on exacts for your car. NEVER except similar or parts that claim to work for your car.

Currently I'm am working on a retro fit HID set up for my truck. A good place to look for parts . . . eBay! Do your research. S2K HID and headlights are some of the best on the market, so if you can stay with the same, I highly suggest it. Good luck!

P.S. As a former owner of a S2K. Whats your top speed in stock condition? It's hard to find a place to really open up . . . . 160 mph is my current best.

Try to switch around Left side to right right ( passanger side switch to driver side ) At first try to swtich the bulb, if it still doesn't work then try to switch around the ballast. I usually have my customers to install 20 amp fuse. Don't touch the light bulb in all meaning. Good Luck. If you need a new kits just pm me
