Put it in nice and firm from a complete stop and you shouldn't have any problems.

Happens to me also. i got use to it. at a dead stop put it in first then reverse. or just dump it in reverse at the stop.

Lol, fixed. Give the clutch an extra kick, and gently try again. It's a common inconvenience more than a problem, and as a Honda owner, you just learn to deal with it.

there is a couple of things one you might want to check your clutch or the position of the pedal or bleed the system or 5-r sleeve set is bad
I have had this problem on more than just hondas. It is more common in high mileage cars. I have always just slide it into 1st then into reverse. Force of habit come to think of it I do that with every manual trans I have ever driven

Yeah, does this to me too. Just when I give it some gas it'll pop outta gear with a quick grind before finding itself in neutral
Great suggestions guys! Will give it a go!

How do you figure? I do it everytime I go into reverse and have never grinded. I have only had problems putting it into reverse when I move the shifter slow into gear. I'm not saying you have to punch the reverse gear as hard as you can, but putting it in firmly has always worked for me.

Point taken. Thought you meant giving it a forceful shift, which has always resulted in a grind for me (I've done it when having a bad day)

When shifting into reverse try putting it into 2nd then 4th and then reverse.Or hold it in reverse while letting the clutch out slowly until you hear a click, and the shifter goes back a lil bit more. Now your actully in reverse.
Reverse is not syncromeshed its actully a straight gear somtimes it takes a lil finess to get into reverse. Atleast ever tranmission ive seen had a straight gear for reverse.

This always works
This always works
i always do 4th then Reverse. if not that, then 2nd, 4th, Reverse....
if its REALLY stubborn, i put it back in 1st bump forward a little (pretty much that the clutch kinda engages), then she slips right into Reverse.... this works EVERY SINGLE TIME.
those work always work for me.
