Default Help buying a Crx

I am going to look at an 89 CRX tomorrow. It has a B16a V-tech motor swap in it and also has the HAS Sport mounts. What do I need to look for, at, ask the guy? What parts can I look forward to buy for this motor in this car in the future. Where can I get the interior for this car. It only has the seats in it.

Thank you in advance.

would not jump into buyin performance parts, because most likely some kind of maintance is going to need to be done. How much is he selling it for? does it run? rust?

BTW it's VTEC.

You can look for all the normal stuff (leaks, smells, smoke, check suspension, etc.). Interior pieces can be found on eBay, craigslist, junkyards, or the marketplace here. Check the FS thread at the top of the page.

Since it has had a swap also look at the wiring. Wiring is a real nightmare if you didn't do it yourself. Just look to see if it was done cleanly.

The old saying is to kick the tires, I would do this and check for back and forth movement. If the tire moves more than a 1/4" it is probably in need of some new buskings.

Couple to look at.

first thing that comes to mind is CEL.

If you see the check engine light turn on...ask him what's the deal.

It does look like its been under water.
Whats up with the steering wheel.

But if it runs good it might be worth it to fix it up. Good luck

Did have any rust on the quarter panel? Honestly, I wouldnt get a swapped car, since most people put swaps in cars for one reason......

But if you car very interested, check to see if it smokes blue (blues smoke means burning oil). After u get it, I would replace every seal & gasket that you can (just like you purchased the swap yourself) and get an alignment. Do regular maintence before you mod it!!!

HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT CAR!!

Im serious. Walk away, quickly. You can find A LOT more crx's in MUCH better
condition than that, for the money.

PLEASE don't do it.

don't buy it!

buy a relatively stock car and do the swap yourself.

plus you'll learn a thing or two in the process.

Judging by the rust and mildew all over that thing it's spent some time underwater. I notice you're in Louisana, upstate not near N.O. But still....looks like someone hauled that thing up there. Don't walk away, run.......

Don't get it. You can find better deals if you look around. I picked up my crx for 3k with a b18b swap. Almost perfect interior and just a few minor body problems...like a ding in the door/fender.

DO IT!!!! lol. Im just kidding.

For one, I agree, it looks like it has either been in water, or it was sitting out side to the elements. It will take so much time and money to get that interior looking semi decent. The exterior isnt horrible, but it could be a lot better. And who knows what is up with the engine. If he treats his car like that, I would not trust his engine work, or anything that has to do with cars for that matter.

For 2000, that is a horrible deal. I would say 500 or 600. You can part that out for that much, or keep it as a parts car. I know my 400 dollar parts car has come in handy dozens of times.
