Default Me vs an older Porsche - at Texas World Speedway, NASA Grp 7 Race #3

http://video.google.com/videop...hl=en

Enjoy.... it is 15 min long.

Highlights:

-I am timid on the start because an orange Porsche was coming up the middle
- Around the 12 min mark we catch a turbo Miata. After we pass him, if you look in the rear view mirror of my car, you will see him going off the track trying to keep up with us.

I hit him. I noticed I was faster, but I realize he was about to come in, so I check up a bit, but not enough and we touched.

After reviewing the video with other racers, I discovered that I was in the wrong. The great thing about it, is that driver and I talked afterwards and he was a GREAT guy. Unfortunately, it slightly damaged his rear wheel and his tire started to delaminate a little in one area. My car has a big black mark and rip in the front. Luckily both of our cars just have slight damage.

Glad that is was just slight damage. How much hp are you putting down, if you don't mind me asking?
Oh also, what final drive?

Fully stock motor with Toda Header and J's racing intake w/K&N filter.

ATS 4.9 Final Drive

I am slower on the straights than the H2 Preludes that were there, but they have some development on their motors.

That's nice man, I want a toda header as well but will have to wait to pay my caR off before I start to mod it. Anyways, the video was great for you.

Hey Dave... hit me up the next time you run out there. I'd like to meet up with you and watch for a bit. I'm only about 15-20 minutes from the speedway.

Craig. TWS is in Bryan/College Station. TMS is what is next to you. Unless you moved again.

No I haven't moved again. I was wondering why he called it world speedway instead of motor speedway

So anything going on in the DFW area in the coming months? I've got CMP Sept 1st, but other then that I'm open and would like to hit up a couple events.

Yeah, World Speedway is an older track and facilities not up to current NASCAR standards (I guess). Motor Speedway is where current NASCAR races are being held.

What suspension setup are you running? You were definitely faster than that white porsche in the corners.

OK I finally got to see the whole thing. Cool to watch while having morning java I dunno for some reason my computer at work just wouldn't load the whole file

Anyway Very Glad to see you back on track,,, literally. Loved the battle through the esses before the banked oval section, you almost had him a bunch of times. Loved the completely different lines you both used. But I gotta ask, he just didn't look consistant, sometimes he was all over the place. When you guys passed the Miata, sounds like someone bounced off the revlimiter, was that you or just noise in the video? What tires were you on?

Car looks great, I know you had fun. Yeah, yeah yeah maybe I need to get a comp license...

Now aren't you glad you didn't sell the car and trailer?

lata D.

Buddy Club Racing Spec Damper (mid setting on front, full stiff rear)
800lb Front Springs
950lb Rear Springs
23mm JDM Rear Sway
24mm Stock Front Sway
Camber set at about -3.5 degrees front and - 1.5 degrees rear
Tires = 205/50 Toyo RA-1 bought used from some Spec Miata guy, not sure of the age

I haven't raced in awhile before last weekend. So, I am still keeping this setup. It is very stable even when I make mistakes. I think the best setup for me would be to either remove the front sway or go up to about 1100lb rear springs, even though I don't think the Buddy Club shocks can handle it.

I think the Miata was on the limiter... he went off the track about two turns later.

I think if I was next to him on corner entry it would have been ok, but since I caught up to him mid corner, it is sort of a "punt". I was obviously faster in corners, so I should of found a way around him.

Same here, it seemed like the Porsche was all over. You definitely could have passed that porsche. Cool vid and thanks for sharing!

I think you may have been in his blind spot a little when he came into that corner and then you just appeared to him out of nowhere, but he should take some blame too because he knew you were faster in the corners so he shouldn't have taken that corner so wide IMO
