What do i need to install a JDM h22 into a 99 Base Prelude
hi, guys, since i'm really new to this site, and the whole tuning scene, i really would appreciate any help i can get. What happened to my 99 prelude was, i drove through a flood and my engine went dead, the mechanic told me that i needed a new engine. By checking online i see the cheapest way to go would be the JDM H22 prelude 92-95, but what would i need to change in order to install it in my 99 prelude? Thanks again (any help please)
you have an OBDII system right now, and your JDM will be OBDI, so you would need to have your parts work for OBDI. This includes your dizzy, ECU, and injector clips I think. I don't think you'll have problems w/ anything else. ECU will have to be and OBDI ECU (p13 or p28), or get a OBDII 2 OBDI adapter harness. Hope that helps.
i talked to my mechanic again, he's not really familiar with swaps, i got the skunk2 harnes on ebay today, which means that i can keep my ECU? i hope. He mentioned that he'll need to change the oil pump and keep my distributor. Just wondering if it's a hard job and will my car pass emission without any problems. Thanks again
Why not just get the H22a shortblock and replace your block and head only...
the only thing that you would have to replace on the new block is the oil pump with your obd2 part. I think http://www.hmotorsonline.com sells these for $1200
