Default 96 accord won,t start

my son-inlaws- v-6 accord died at idle and will not restart. checked the plugs and they smelt of gas, but were burnt up. they gauged at .085. put new plugs and cap and rotor on the engine and still won,t start. a few times it just about hit and ran, i checked the fire on the plugs and it is yellow at the electode. no backfire thru the exhaust or intake when we crank it. TIA

with the starting problem see why its not starting, throw throttle body or carb cleaner or starter fluid down the intake and see if cranks , if not test spark, weak or none at all. At least you can follow one of those paths to the culprit. main relay maybe the starting problem When u say will not idle do you mean the engine cranks for a sec then dies again?

I would not reccomend starter fluid yet. Check for spark if none...check your main relay? might help good luck

Y NOT? SHOULDNT HE LISTEN TO THE PUMP FIRST INSTEAD OF BREAKING OUT THE MULTIMETER TO TEST THE RELAY? IF HE EVEN HAS ONE, IF PUMPS NOT WIZZING THEN BREAK OUT MULITMETER, AT LEAST SHOOTING THE "EXPLOISIVE" DOWN THE INTAKE WILL DETERMINE IF FUEL PROB. EVERYBODY HAS A CAN OF SOME KIND OF STARTING FLUID

the stater fluid doesn,t help and you can smell gas on the plugs. the fire is yellow jumping across the gap. i think that is weak fire. thanks so far,

sorry it took awhile to respond this trail crap sucks it limits me to 5 post sin 24 hours--->bump! anyways i dont know why i didnt think this before but your engine sounds flooded, heres what you do, this has happened to a nissan and a honda civic that i worked on.

1) take out spark plugs
2) turn the engine over about 5 times just for approx 3-5 secs, let engine sit for 30 mins to an hour
3) reinstall your new sparkplugs and wires make sure the plugs are gapped right
4) try starting the car
5) it may run like crap for acouple seconds but it should so the trick.
lettme know please! hey my email is accordpower99@***.net if u wanna write me this trial thing sucks.
