Default Warranty expiring please help

I already posted one message regarding my Accord's left rear rotor. I need an immediate reply as warranty is ready to expire (35,934 miles on 2004 Accord EX)

During last service at dealer, I was told some crap about rear right side rotor. It is rusted and I should have done brake servicing earlier. Rotor should be replaced immediately ...

I didn't go for that.
I do see a deformation and there is no rust. I see a slight dip about 1 cm on the edge of rotor. Now if I brake on free way at greater than 60 mph there is vibration at steering and noise from back.

Now I see similiar thing (light streaks on outer edge) just starting to develop on right left side as well. My concern is this just a inferior pad/rotor issue
OR
some thing beyond the pad/rotor (like a stuck caliper or some thing else) which can be covered by warranty.

I have read in the internet many accord owners (2003 and later) seeing same issue.

If it is some thing to be covered by warranty I need to do it today.

Please fellow Accord owners respond...

I am really surprised to see issues with rear brakes since most of the work is done by front. And my other cars ran with out rear pad/rotor replacement for 100k miles...

from the information you've given I don't see any reason to think there is a warranty issue, just regular maintenance needed.

If you think there is a problem just take it in an have them inspect it to see if there really is a problem.

Also, you should have kept this in your original thread. I may merge them.

From your post, sounds like there are two issues:

1. The vibration at steering may be due to uneven front brake pad wear, or warped rotors. It is common for many Hondas to get warped rotors though.

The front brake pads and rotor resurfacing or replacement may be covered under warranty. (I personally don't feel this is an actual warranty issue, though; as uneven brake pad wear occurs on many vehicles, not just Hondas. But, if Honda wants to possibly covered it, ...) This is the TSB for front brake judders on the 2004 Accords:

2. The rears may or may not be covered by Honda, depending on what is the nature. However, it is not uncommon for rear brake pads on many Honda to wear faster than the fronts. -- I didn't find any TSBs regarding the rears, for your car.

On my 5th gen, the rears disc pads always wears out before the fronts. The rears on mines needs replacing around every 36,000 to 40,000 miles (I'm not a lead foot or heavy braker either.) The fronts go way over 100,000 miles on my 5th gen. -- This is for a car with over 240,000 miles. (Yes, the fronts should do most of the stopping; however, the faster wear for the rears may possibly be due to other factors, such as size and design difference of the calipers, rotors, brake pads, or sticking caliper slide pin, etc., etc....)

Hi Tech8,
Thank you for your insight. I was so much focussed on the rear rotor I thought it is just one issue.

Are you positive that steering judder is not caused by warped rear rotor ?

Is there any way to visually check thickness variation in front rotors?

By the way the right rear rotor has build up(deformation) similar to shown in thread

I really appreciate your reply. It makes me less confused...

correct, with front rotor warping you'll feel it in the steering since it's all connected. The warped rear rotors should have more of a vibration in the seats as JimBlake stated in your other thread.

you would need a set of micrometers that have a large opening to check all across the rotor surface.

I wouldn't call that build up, thats more of something rubbing the surface and grooving it
