considering buying a prelude, What to look for
Ok, I used the search function, but didn't really come up with anything. I am about to dump my 89 Civic Hatch W/B16 swap and start looking for a prelude,
93 or so. What are some things I should look for? I know the 4th and 5th gen civic inside out, but not much exp. with the prelude, time for a new challenge.
also, know of any good tech sites for the prelude???
Thanks
Chris

I don't know what to tell ya man....They are great cars...I bought mine used in michigan 3 years ago..Only thing that has gone wrong with it is the muffler got a hole in it and my back calipers needed a rebuild. I got mine for 11k with 50k miles on it and it was a vtec with everything on it...they are great cars and I haven't really had any problems with mine since I got it.
you want to look for a 93-95 prelude VTEC since those are the fastest prelude available here and are OBD1. you'll be happy with a prelude. i had three, an 85, an 89 SI, a 95VTEC. then i got a 95 civic hb, started fixing that up, swap, blah blah blah, but i missed my prelude so much that i sold the civic and got another prelude.
my 4th. i plan on keeping this one forever.
a great tech site it... well... this one, and http://www.hondaprelude.com
92-95 prelude Si + turbo
93-95 prelude VTEC + anything

The 92-95 4th gen (non-obdII) VTEC cars are definitely the fastest. Even faster than the 5th gens. I am now on my second 4th gen, the first was the slow 1993 S model which I was planning to upgrade with the H22a1 and then decided against, and my second is the 1995 VTEC. I bought it for $10k with 59k in Wisconsin and it hasn't given me any mechanical trouble so far, just basic scheduled maintenance. Very fun and great looking cars. One thing to look for, which is true for all pre-96 Hondas, is rust on the rear wheel arch. They are infamous for this, but its not hard to find one without this problem. Good luck on your search!!
