It will say "YS1" on the sticker on the case... unfortunately ALL 92-93 manual transmission integras came equipped with "YS1" transmissions. So the only ways to know if you have the gsr version is to either pull it apart and count the teeth on the gears or install it and drive it.

so best bet would be to open it up and count the teeth or to install it and drive it.

there should be a way to turn the diff w/o taking anything apart and find out what it is by where the diff pin lines up with a marking on the case after a complete rotation.......or something close to that. gotta check with an experienced trans tech, I know there on here. maybe one will chime in soon or search for trans specs ir transmission identification. you'll probably see a few post of what I'm talking about.

since when has the LS ys1 had a 4.26? I've NEVER seen that posted anywhere.

Edit, I just did some searches to try and post links..... and now I've getting conflicting info. Until today I had never seen anyone say that the ls ys1 is a 4.26. I knew the y1 is a 4.26, but not the ys1. I still want some proof to which is actually the truth. And no, I'm not looking to prove myself right, I'd honestly like the correct info, either way.

And I'm sure there are more...... This is strange to me that I never saw this before, I guess I've been out of the scene too long. I'm gonna contact my tranny guru.

LS 90-91 small spline have 4.400 FD, 92-93 large spline have the 4.266 FD.

Helps that I work on SCCA ITA trannys, like 90-93 Tegs.

what a bunch of bullshit. with all those serial #'s and potential casting spots, honda just couldn't be bothered to put a definitive identity on each different transmission...??!?!?

i thought counting splines & rotations was ridiculous, but having to crack open or install a transmission just to identify it?? bullshit.
