To be honest, and to be safe, factory spring are good to about 8,500 rpm. Sure, if you exceed that once or twice, chances are you will be ok (as long on you don't exceed it too much like 10,000 on miss-shift). Bottom line, the engine is balanced to 10,000, the head is designed to 8,200 to 8,500. At least, this is what my mechanics tell me. I was also told that the Hondata reflash really pushes the tolerances of the springs and retainers.
Personally, I don't think it's worth the risk. If I decide to pump up my redline, springs and retainers will be the first step.

the stock 06+ Si valvetraine is good for 9k rpms because we have the same valvetraine as the new JDM type R....and last time i checked the new civic Type R went to 9k.

honda would not have made the stock redline what it is if the heads were not made to work well at that RPM. They know that people beat the ***** out of their motors and they are made to rev high. 8200-8500 everyday...your fine 9k is the farthest I would go on a stock head.
