Default Speakers and AMP Ohms - Help!!

I am curious I am getting a 300 watt amp for my front and rear speakers (speakers are 4ohm and amp is 4ohm). It is only a 2 channel amp so what is the best way for me to hook up the speakers? Parallel or serial?

I know I am asking quite a few questions...I am fairly new to amps and wireing and I don't want to make a mistake. Any hlp is appreciated.

I'd guess to run 4 speakers from a 2 channel amp you'd need an external fader control to be able to balance front and rear speakers as well as left and right!? In other words, neither serial or parallel directly, the fader balances the load...

it depends on the speakers/amp. If you wire them in series (2 speakers per channel @ 4ohms a piece) you'll have an 8 ohm load (effectively cutting in half the power of the amp). If you run them in parallel you'll have a 2 ohm load (doubling the power of the amp). Figure out what your speakers and amp can handle and go from there (if the amp doesn't say it can handle a 2 ohm load don't wire it up in parallel, best case you'll blow some fuses, worst case you'll fry the amp). Or, get a new 4channel and use the the 2channel on some subs.

as miahmouse said, it all depends on your amp. what amp did you get?

when you hookup four speakers to a 2 channel amp, you'll either lose the functionality of your fader or your balance (depending on how you have it hooked up). i've got my front pair coming off the left channel and my rear pair coming off the right channel. this way, the balance control replaces the fader and the fader does nothing.

I got a rockford fosgate Punch RFR 1410 from a friend and I am buying a Jensen 2125 amp (500 watts) for my sub. Please dont laugh at the amp I know there are better...but in canada that amp is costing me 200 and I have the War Department (the wife) to appease.

you should run your front speakers off of the fosgate amp rear speakers off the deck and subs off the jensen. this will give you a better front stage with rear fill.
