EJ6 wont shift out of park, brake lights no longer work, wtf?
My car is an auto and it won't shift from PARK to REVERSE or DRIVE. I have to shift lock it from PARK to NUETRAL to start it. Now my brake lights don't come on when I brake.
Anybody know what's up with this? It's too late to look at anything, but I was told to check the fuse, maybe it went out. But it's strange now, after I remove my spoiler.

The switch tells your car that you have the brake engaged enough so the car can be take out of park and be driven. If your switch is bad or broken, your lights wont come on and you wont be able to take your car out of park.
Just go to your local junkyard, you'll find one.

Ok, well I changed the fuses, even though they look good. Horn works now, but the tail lights don't.
Change the brake switch, still don't work.
Any more help? Car still won't leave park, still have to shift lock to nuetral to start it.
I'm completely lost, maybe a shortage somewhere? I dunno.

Will that also work for a 96 DX?</TD></TR></TABLE>
it's basically telling you how to trouble shoot the brake wiring. which that is what you will have to do if you want to fix the problem. the indication of a blown fuse means most likely you have a short.
you said this started after you removed your spoiler. i would back track and double check all wires. make sure none got torn, pinched, or exposed to metal. also make sure no water got into where the wire are, it will also cause it to short out if wires are exposed or water got into the harness.

Well, i was about too remove the panels and check it. But I decided to take one more look at the fuses, and bam! They work. I don't know, guess it was the fuses but they're working now.
Thanks for the input guys, H-T'ers.
