Honda crx 1.6 non vtech turbo??
Sup guys,
Well recently rebuilt my 1990 honda crx and is approaching 1k miles and running strong. Been thinking about maybe getting turbo kit....was wondering what the standing opinion on turboing a 1.6 non vtech with stock internals is. Worth it? actually has a 95 honda civic bottom end and 1990 crx si head atm. Think stock pistons and rods will hold up to 10-20 lbs of boost? Was looking around and found a few kits for 1000.00 but also see manifolds and what not seperate. Doubt the wife will be very happy if i spend too much on this car but what u guys think is best route.

I've said it before, dont focus on the boost, focus on the hp..D-series can't take alot of HP continuosly..If you want the motor to last for years and years keep it around 200whp or less, get it tuned RIGHT,and you'll be fine.
Best thing to do is peice together your own kit, using good parts that last..since you rebuilt the crx im sure you want it to act like it came from the factory turbo and last a good 100,000 miles..

if your thinking about running a turbo.
do your own set up. dont buy any ebay turbos or manifolds.
but if your tight on money atleast get a cast log manifold.
go to the junkyard, look for a dsm. snag the injectors, turbo and blow off valve.then have someone make you a downpipe or if you know how to weld make your own.
just please dont buy an ebay kit.

^you should be more specific ,most people dont know what dsm is let alone what year and motor..
op if you go to the junkyard you're looking for an awd/fwd turbo manual transmission model,90-94 eagle talon, mitsubish eclipse, plymouth laser. These cars have a 14b turbo, intercooler good for 2xx hp,450cc injectors,bov,etc,etc..if you get something like this all you're left with is piping, downpipe, ecu, fuel pump, boost guage, oil lines, and misc.
