Default center console question

My friend just crashed his 2000 civic and I took the center console off. Would this be fully operational if I put it on my 98 civic ex? thanks

You people need to stop posting if you're not sure.

To the OP -- NO.

It will not work without major replacement of parts. The 99-00 climate control is electronically actuated, where the 96-98 console is cable actuated. You need to replace the dash harness, the blower box, the console, etc. It involves removing the entire dash, replacing all that crap, and putting it back it. It doesn't just "drop" in.

I think the words "fully operational" and "dash vents" would key you in.

I agree 100% believe me!

However, in rules/guidlines by Ricey...he states that: "if you are not 100% sure of something, please say so" That doesnt mean "Just dont post" lol.

Seriously though Eran...i do agree completely.

Dont woop my *** via HT

He didn't mention any of that in the original post.

He did the right thing by saying "I'm not 100% sure"

Also, I also thought he was talking about the armrest piece or shifter piece until somebody mentioned the climate control.

man .

I dont know how Air Vents and Console get put into the same equation.

I can see Dashboard and Air Vents, but not Console and Air Vents......wow wtf.

Yeah, I dont' know, whatever.

The piece where armrest/shifter is is called the center console also. Not a big deal, simply a mis-understanding based on the OP's ability (or lack there of) to communicate efficiently.

Whattttttever.

And I have seen people call the center climate control piece a console before. I'm not saying it's right or that it's good to do (since it causes confusion), but it does happen often enough that I wonder each time.

Fully operational... Do you think he was asking if it would still open? That it would still close? What other operations does the armrest have besides letting your arm rest on it?

operational can mean fitting in there, if the screws were the same and the shifter would fit in the same spot, so thats why i said yea thinking it was the armrest!

I too thought it was the armrest he was speaking of. I would think that by "center console" he meant the shifter/armrest piece. "Climate control" would have made it more clear.

That would be "Will it fit?" not, "Will it work?"

Had I come in here with only the first post asking if a center console would be operational, I would ask, "What do you mean by "operational?"?" Then I might elaborate that the center armrest would fit and install perfectly since they're all the same pieces in all '96-'00 USDM Civics.
