Default No clue of what type of motor I have

I know its a 93 civic lx with a 1.5L. I see everyone else saying they have a 1.6, 2.0 and v-teca and stuff. What is the 1.5 and is it worth doing anything to i.e. turbo. Or should I just save and get a different motor. I dont know the whole B/D 16/17/18 I dont know what that means. What is the best motor for a turbo setup and what price am i looking at to do that kind of stuff. Is there a supercharger that I can buy and put on the 1.5 that I have right now, or do they not make them any help would be great. I know search. I did and couldn't get anything

the letter reffers to the series of motor. for example. b18a- b(referring to the series) and 18 is reffering to the displacement meaning 1.8liters. it goes the same for all honda motors. b20 is a b series motor with a 2.0 liter displacement. d15b7 is a d series motor 1.5liter engine.

I'm guessing that you're going to get flamed pretty hardcore.

Start here and you should have a good idea on what the various engines are:

Turbo has more potential than a supercharger but I highly suggest you read up on things and try to get a better understanding before you start purchasing mods.

You most likely have a D15B7 which is worthless in terms of performance. It's a 1.5L non-VTEC engine that makes fuckall horsepower and torque.

Save up, get a D16Z6 or a B-series and turbocharge it. /thread.

or...you could NOT turbo it. Iduno...it seems like you're new into the whole Honda scene, and maybe into the car scene. (im assuming so dont be offended)

If you knew a lot about cars, a turbo might not be a bad idea.

However, turbos do pose reliability and tuning and other problems. Not to mention there is more maintainence involved.

You should try putting in a DOHC VTEC (even a B16A which is on the weak side of the DOHC motors at 160-170hp bone stock). Usually honda motors put out more power than other companies' V6 engines. You might be satisfied with nice, reliable, no bullshit NA horsepower.

If not, you can always turbo it later. Although, I wouldnt recommend it.

Your engine actually says the code on the front of it too.
