setting up dc5 for scca pro
hey everyone im well versed in b series, but a newbie to the k. This is also the first honda road race car ive been involved in, so youre helping two vintage porsche guys build a RSX.
anyways, im setting up an aim dash in a dc5 chassis, and Im in need of a proper port for the oil temp guage. also, where would i pull and return oil for a cooler? The engine is simply stamped k20a, so i assume it is a jdm version (red valve cover), probably a type r? pics would really help.
thanks,
matt

to pull oil from the motor for an oil cooler you could get a T fitting off of where the vtec solenoid is screwed in to the head behind the heat shield on the back of the motor thats how the greddy turbo kit for a rsx gets its oil for the turbo then it runs down to the oil pan throught a fitting you could either tap a fitting in the oil pan or use a bandgo bolt like the use in the greddy kit to dump the oil back in to the pan but i would rather tap a hole and install a fitting into the pan and there is also a part you could get that screws on to where the oil filter goes and it has a fitting for the oil to come out of but idk about in but i think it does my buddy his 05 rsx has that but then again he is puttin 628 to the wheels on 28pounds of boost

NO. You must NOT use this. this is 1/8th BSPT, far far too small for an oil cooler feed.
If your planning on running an air based oil cooler, you must not use a line smaller than -8AN. Most of the popular oil coolers wont come with fittings smaller than that (Setrab, etc...) You can use a sandwich plate from the oil filter where the oil filter is.
If you want to get a reliable oil temp reading you should weld an aluminum bung for the temp sender in the lowest portion of the oil pan.

thanks i figured out the oil temp- i came to the same conclusion about the oil pan. I also understand the idea about the -8 line for the cooler...this isnt my first race car, just the first honda race car. Any other points besides the oil filter sandwich plate? i can go that route if need be, but i just want to know my options. i wont actually see the car again until next friday...(8/17)
