Default BBK intake manifold

i was doing some searching around for different intake manifold ideas. i've heard generally that an intake mani. upgrade will not really be beneficial until the cams are upgraded, cause it kills low end power. yes/no?

- the build - a b18a in a 93 DA for autocross. i don't really feel like listing all the mods, nor do i believe that ya'll wanna read them all, but ~11.8:1 comp. and i'm still undecided about which cams to go with(thinking skunk2 stage2).

anyhoo. i stumbled upon BBK. under their new products they have an intake manifold for a '1.8L honda'. it looks mean, and has a stock TB bore of 70mm here's a link -> http://www.lmperformance.com/16521/72.html my question is that with such a large TB size on there, if i went with a 70mm TB to match it, would it kill my low-end/mid range(v. important for autocross)? granted, i'm referring to after i upgrade cams.

all feedback is greatly appreciated.

...and a picture because we all know people are more likely to look at a thread with a picture.

Those runners and 70mm throttle body are not what you want for an autocross car, drag car yes, autocross no. Performer X and 64mm would be better.

thanks man. i was originally looking at the Edelbrock Performer X to be honest with you. hah, shoulda stuck with that idea.

i wasn't sure about the short runners. i know there's a bunch of math that goes into calculating the right length(can't remember where i saw the formulas). i also was skeptical about that ginormous throttle body(compared to the stock 60mm).

I am pretty sure that the bbk manifold is only made for the gsr head - I don't know why they only put 1.8l cause I am almost positive it is gsr only???

Far as I know, skunk doesn't have any cams for the LS (non-vtec) engines. Am I missing something?

no, b18a head. i dunno, i was going off of what i saw at NOPI's online store. "PERFORMANCE Stage 2 Camshaft - GS B18A1 1.8L 4cyl DOHC; GSR B17A1 107L 4cyl DOHC/VTEC- Intake Lift .489 & Intake Duration 275 degrees/Exhaust Lift .469 & Exhaust Duration 270 degrees - Stage 2 (Semi-Race) For modified engines operating at higher rev ranges. Upgraded valvetrain is req. for proper operation. Fair-to-good driveability allow them to still be used on dual purpose vehicles - Utilizing the latest chill-casting and forging technology - 2pcs - 111+1073" from http://www.nopionline.com/nopi...tegra .perhaps a misprint, or am i just retarded? both are quite possible. if this seems terribly stupid to you guys, i apologize i have not been up to speed with b-series parts until recently. please excuse my potential stupid mistakes.

thanks, brutha! with those cams would it be a good idea to upgrade any of my head components, as i've heard that some of the more aggressive cams can do some damage to a stock head. springs, retainers?
