How to remove door handle?
I was wondering how do I remove my actual door latch handle. I need to get rid of rust that is just below the edge of the door handle on the outside of the car.

when you take the door panel off there should be either clips or bolts holding it on, be careful not to drop the actual lock if you detach it from the handle.
its not that hard... 2 10mm bolts then there are 2 plastic clips that rotate. once u rotate them the rods attached will be able to come out then u can remove the handle...

I guess I'm gonna tackle this later on. I thought I could do this quickly before work, but I was wrong. I needed more time. Anyway here is a reference pic of what I am seeing. Seems simple enough, all you really do is 3 things. The two things in the pic and then remove the 10mm bolts... but hard to tackle since I've been trying to fit two hands inside a little small area to try to take that rod off...

you do not have to take of the retainer or the key cylinder to get the handle out...
here is an example of how to remove the bar connecting to the key cylinder hope this helps

blanco617,
I can't really figure that picture out. You have a better viewing angle of that picture? If not thats okay. I will try to do what you have described.
So you are saying that I just need to take the 2 10mm bolts out and then I should be able to remove the handle without taking out the retainer clip or the lock cylinder? That would be great...

once you get in there, that picture will make a lot more sense. you kinda have to twist it while pushing it out. it doesn't bolt in and sit or anything... and the original diagram has nothing to do with removing your door handle, that's how you swap out your lock mechanism.
just get in there and look around, you'll see how it's together and how it comes apart. it's not that hard.

thanks everyone! It is like how you described. All you do is take the 2 10mm bolts out and then the door handle is able to come out and you can then turn it sideways so you can have room to work with.
very simple.
thanks folks! I sanded out the rust that was forming on the metal that the handle was sitting on. I then painted on top of it with rust paint.
