Default question about building bottem end

Do to alot of smoking issuses i think the end of the year i'm goin to be building the bottem end.

Thoughts of this have been crossing my mind forever, i thought about a 84x89 mm setup with a ls crank some 84mm pistons
head is pretty fully built but i was goin to have portflow fully port it out, on top of my runner porting.
question is, with the ls crank in my c5 block, what type of rods do i get, standard forge ls rods? or what.. i'm kindof stroke it / kindof not, with a ls crank and 84mm bore i should be right around a 1.9 liter build i think.. car will be semi daily driven, will keep the itbs, will probably go with pro2 cams in the end.

technically a 2 litre....

if your using an ls crank and oem pistons then you will use stock length ls rods since the compression height is the same for all b sries pistons...i do believe the piston to deck height is different between the ls and gsr, but id have to check to make sure....

the pistons wont be oem, they'll be forged..probably goin for 11.8~12.0 on forged pistons.. i have 11.8~12.0 right now on stock itr bottem end.

I just went outside, and did a compression test, 250 across the board , its strong, it even holds the compression, i sat 30 seconds on each cyl seeing if it would slowly leak out, it holds steady 250 on all cyls, i'ma try a leakdown tomorrow or tuesday because i'm kindof tired of getting on it and from 6~9k it just smokes like a train.. car pulls strong and hard but it smokes a fucken lot between those rpms.
I'm running a breather on the valvecover, and the breather setup i'm running with a catchcan is the two holes from the back of the block to a vented catch can.
i'm assuming its the oil control rings, about 3 months ago when the head was off, the cyl walls were clean except the front and the back of the walls were minor, minor scaring of the walls, looked to be like piston expansion. but nothing i was concerned about. Plugs look fine, AFR is fine. I dont know what to think.. the smoke from what i can see in the rear view minor is blueish / blackish.. it seems to be white at first but i know for a fact it isn't my hg, coolent is full, and lime green as expletive, no water in the oil neither. no bubbles on the radiator or in the overflow tank. I'm stumped.

how far down the bore is the scoring....

donf mentioned a few days ago that a leakdown will not trace oil ring failure...it only works till the second compression ring...

wish i could be of more service to you, but maybe a fresh hone and a set of new rings is in your forseeable future

scoring is roughly 1/2 an inch to a full inch going downward.
