DIY Gauge Cluster
Iv had the idea for awhile and had a spare eg cluster laying around so I decided to give it a try. I do not have gauges yet, because the ones id like to run are extremely expensive. So I may look for alternatives or just let it sit on the back burner.
Any who this is a some what detailed write up for anyone who wants to give it a try. It can be done with pretty much any cluster.
The idea. SPA gauges, and leds for lights like turn signals and the like.

Here you have the stencil and the cluster housing.

How it fits.

Safety type stuff.

Supplies.

Resin cup.

First layer glassed.

First layer dry.

Misc. process pics.

Can see some gaps.

Do a few more layers for the ouside.

Somewhat finished piece.

I might go back and fill it in with some sort of icing but im done for now. Pick your gauges and mount them and viola.

Yeah now its whether or not I want to invest into the actual gauges. School is coming up again so income and time will be less, and the car needs stuff for the track. So im unsure whether or not I will complete it.
This thread isnt exactly my build, it would be cool for it to spawn a decent thread much like the 50 dollar paintjob thread.
The defi gauges would be a cheaper solution to the SPA's, but i have to do more research as to whether or not the link control is necessary.

They make gauges.
Spa, Autometer, they all make fuel level gauges.
It would be easy to do. Its just not a sound investment financially, for someone my age.
Autometer would be really cheap to do. Spa would be pretty expensive, for just 2 of the gauges you could have a racepak like above.
If you look at the dash system above you can see the fuel level, from E||||F.
EDIT: Id love to see someone with more dedication and money to blow give it a try.

Im aware, I believe he used a single SPA tach in the oem location. It was in either a white hatch or a black coupe I think.

why wouldn't you just lay a sheet of fiberglass on a piece of glass then cut it out to a tight fitting template, then it would be perfectly smooth on one side. Or just use a sheet of plastic or aluminum? your way just seems way to hard for what it is IMO
