hatchbacks, engine choices and sleep deprivation causing dilemmas
Hey all, just looking for some opinions on a little issue I'm having. I recently acquired two Civic hatchbacks. One is a 91 something or other (I don't actually know what trim) with a D15B1 (70 hp woo hoo!!!) that was pretty poorly maintained. It has 215K miles on it, a blown head gasket, no 5th gear and it doesn't look all that great. I traded a 82 VW Rabbit pickup for it
. The other Civic is a 93 CX with almost 300K miles on the meter, it was extremely well maintained, it's my daily driver, it runs great and doesn't have a single thing wrong with it except for the fact that it is one of the most gutless vehicles I've ever driven (also 70 freakin hp).
The dilemma: I don't know what to do about either of these cars and I have a night job that doesn't allow for much sleep so my brain isn't working well enough for me to make a decision
.
I'm looking at two options for the 91, a ZC swap (from these guys: http://www.jsamotors.com/catal...d=727) that will cost more than what the car is worth, or just a replacement engine and transmission from a salvage yard. Even though it would probably be less expensive I decided I don't want to repair the old worn out engine and transmission. So the question is, would the ZC swap be worth the cash, or should I just fix it with a salvage yard driveline and sell it straight away?
As far as the 93, should I leave it the way it is, or go for a D15B swap (http://www.japandomesticmotor.com/en...hp?EngineID=29)? I really like the D15B option but I can't figure out how to wire the thing. Has anyone heard anything about this swap?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Ian.
