ac thermostat question / compressor not engaging
Hello, I have a 93 integra LS. My a/c isn't getting cold, though the fans blow and it shoots air. When I turn the level to heat, it gets hot. When I push the a/c button and the temp lever to the coldest level, it just doesn't get cold. I also noticed that there isn't a green light on the a/c button as well. I'm wondering if perhaps the simple switch itself is faulty. But the first thing I did was got it recharged.
So I went to the shop and they checked for proper pressure, and recharged it, and everything seemed fine. After running the car however, the guy noticed the compressor was not engaging. I know this can be a lot of things..such as the compressor, condensor, etc. Any how, I have the shop manual on pdf and am trying to troubleshoot the issue by following the flow chart.
So the first thing the manual says to do is to disconnect the ac thermostat and start the engine. I am then suppose to connect a jumper wire between the blue/red wires, and see if the compressor runs. Now I know the thermostat is located behind the glove compartment, and I believe I found it. What I need to know is how to remove the thermostat. I would also like to know what exactly the manual means by jumping the red and blue wire. Does that mean I connect the blue and red wire using any wire? Hopefully someone who has done this before can chime in. Thanks

Jump it with something that has power running through it. It could be a relay or fuse. Check those first before digging into your car.
Well, I'm hoping someone can help me figure out how to take out the thermostat. Here is a picture of the a/c thermostat:

Obviously I need to disconnect the two prong connector and take out that one screw where it's mounted on to the evaporator box. The only problem I see is that there is the brown wire that goes into what I believe to be the black evaporator box. Will opening the evaporator box to disconnect the brown wire release refrigerant? My guess is, if I tried jumping the blue/red wire and the compressor does indeed engage, I can simply cut that brown wire....and when I connect the new thermostat, just solder that wire to the new one for an easy pain free fix. What do you guys think? The only problem is that local auto parts stores seem to not carry this part.
