Default What kind of pipe?

Just thinking about getting a full system. Do they all give the same amount of HP? Which sounds the best? What exactly is a jet kit?

Its typicallynot the HP they help generate, but more on the weight savings.

I was gonna get a full titanium setup.. from yoshimura.. thing weights 4lbs.. thats an assload of weight savings... not counting the few hp it might help add..

sound is nice too.... but at a price of about 1300 dollars... (at the time)

A jet is the part of the carberator that controls the air/fuel mixture.

FULL Exhaust systems for bikes usually add at most ~14RWHP. IF you just want to make noise a slip-on (can) will do. A slip-on will add a "few" RWHP. I like to ride on a quiet bike. For my 954 a full system from Hindle will add 14HP and be just s smidge louder than stock. Advise you get about being loud makes you safer is over-rated.

Anyway, the less negative attention you generate, the better off we as a group are IMHO.

Ok so if you get a full system on a carburated bike, you have to buy a new jet kit right? Are there different brands of jet kits, one better than the other, or are they all the same?

bikes are so finely tuned so that when you get an exhaust system it throws off the tuning a bit so you get a jet kit to correct the tuning for carbuerated bikes

A jet kit can be part of an exhaust package. The jet kits I have installed included the jets, and lighter springs as well as instructions for setting the mixture screws. There is usually a plug over the mix screws that need to be drilled to access these. The best way to get the answer to your question is:

What are your objectives?
(power) Find the charts to compare...
(sound) Some sites have wave files...

Once you have decided on what want, ask the particular company that makes the exhaust system what needs to be done to add it to your bike.

Wow, just as I suspected
A bench tuner

go here-> http://www.fireblades.org
search for "hindle" and "dyno"

(BTW, I'm figment there as well...)

read for a few days You will find that 1, hindle is rather conservative with their numbers and 2, lots of folks have gotten > 12 RWHP gains from them.

Do you know what "~" means? It is commonly used to infer an estimate.

You see, I don't HAVE a full system on my 954 yet. BUT one of my buddies with a 929 does. His got 14 RWHP after the hindle and a remap by the tuner @ sabin here in Dallas.

My comments about what is involved in jetting were ment to cover just about any bike

Before you go getting all emotional next time, try not to miss-interpret too much about what other people are saying...

heeheehee...

Honestly,

And yes i know what the approximate sign is ~ but being a 3rd year engineering major we dont approximate
Oh really, humm, I guess I need to straighten out the guys who report to me @ work then. All of them are degreed engineers and few of them have masters in engineering...

You see, when your not being specific about a bike (or anything else), there is no way to have hard numbers. So you make estimates. But I'm probably belaboring the issue now anyway

I guess i read and pay too much attention.... :D
If you were really paying attention then you would have noticed, that question about his bike was asked AFTER my original post in THIS thread. Please grow up. Your (powers of observation are) not impressing me much...

If someone wants to ask a question and does not provide specific, they are asking a general question. If they want specifics they usually know to provide more information. again you fail to impress me, must you go on?

wow 1300 for a full titanium exhaust that spans how many inches? a full titanium bpipe and muffler from kakimoto for a wrx is less than that! and how long is that? 6+ feet?

i always thought bike stuff was cheaper than car stuff cuz its smaller. 3. is it all the R&D?
