Cooling Fans
Hi Everyone. I'm new to this forum.
I have a 1998 Honda Accord LX stock 4-cylinder. After being brought to the shop, I was told the cooling fans are inoperable due to lack of ground from pcm. They recommended that I have this repaired before winter gets here. They informed me it would run me a little over $750.00 to fix it. The weird thing is that I see the fans do come on and off and my car is not overheating at all.
Are they trying to scam me or what should I do?

If you can open the hood and let the engine idle with A/C off, and the engine gets up to temp and the fans cycle and keep the temp steady.
I wouldn't be worried at all

if it doesnt overheat they might be BS'ing you, if the fans operate normally then the car has no issue...I would bring it to someone else just to double check because whatever they are saying makes no sense. Did you bring the car in telling them there was a problem or was it during some service where they told you there was an issue?
The day when i got the car out of the shop drove it home it was a hot day, i let the car idle with the A/C off but the cooling fans were working normal. Just like you said, i never had a problem similar to this with any of my cars, so i'm going to keep my hears on the cooling fans to come on and off and my eyes on the temp gauge just in case. Thanks a lot for the replys.
