Yesterday I took of the the filter box cover so that it would be like a short ram. Then I started it up and it was idling at like 1 1/2 or 3/4...

Is it alright if i take the filter box cover off and should i be worried about the idling hi or is it normal...or what?

My car idles high while it warms up but you car should idle at about 7-800 RPM's... any higher than that you should adjust your idle... but if it idled fine before you took the intake cover off then id put it back on and just buy an intake.

 

opening your intake box should have no effect on your idle, 7-800 is where you should be at when warm.

 

Ok...I took off the intake cover off again. Then I discover that the last owner had put in a K&N Filter. So I dont have to buy a filter now. And I went driving and went on the highway and now its so much better throttle response and somewhat acceleration. Now when I get up to Vtec and the 5800 openers it just roars. I think i will leave it off for good now. With a short ram be just as good and better than stock with k&n or what? I dont really wanna get a cold air intake. It tends to rain alot here.

 

get a intake! its a much better sound and will look much nicer
