Default KYB GR2's wont fir 93 eg??

Hello, I attempted to put GR2's on my friend's 93 dx hatch today and the shock bodies are too big to fit into the forks at the pinch point. Has anyone else had this problem, yes the shocks are the right part #.

with a screw driver you need to open the forks a lil bit more. and they will fit. they just tighten them up with the screw. they will fit

I heated them up and spread them open alot, they still dont make it over the bottom weld, and then they are tapered out above that.

My car is the one trecool44 was working on. We tried everything but boring out the fork. We torched it and opened it still not even close. We measured the hole in the fork and got 1.492" and the dia of the shock is 1.642". Two tenths of an inch is quite an interfeirence fit.

OK i called KYB and they said that the max diameter on the shock body is 1.640".
Does anybody know what the i.d. of the hole in the fork is or where i can find specs on it. I think someone may have changed some parts on this suspension b4 i bought the car. (93 Civic DX Hatch)

Last night I tryed the other side and the fork was the wright size i think the guy i bought it from blew both shocks and threw an integra shock and fork in the pass. side. So the car had the wrong fork on the passenger side. Any way i got the driver side in and its like a whoole new car. I have to go to the U pull it to get the EG pass. side fork.
