Default LS VTEC Assembly Problem!!!!

Any help is greatly appreciated. I am doing an LS Vtec with P30 pistons that I removed from another block. When I removed the rods and pistons off of both blocks this afternoon. I forgot to mark each rod and piston to the cylinder that it belongs to. I will be swaping pistons on the rods. Is is it very important to have them marked? Can they be put back together in any order after getting the ARP Rod bolts installed? Thanx

you will soon be doing the bearing oil clearances measurements on each rod so it does not really matter.

If i understand this correctly, you took the rods and pistons out of a different block, and are putting them in another block. Correct?

If so, you should measure each piston and write the dims down. then measure the bores then right them down. Really. The Dim's of your pistons( i.e. diameter ) will most likely vary from piston to piston TOO bore to bore. (unless the previous motor hadn't seen any strokes )

It may not be that great of a variance, but if i was you, id double/triple check the cylinder bore, and the diameter of your slugs. Then install them according to the similarities of bore to piston diameters.

Have the cyliners been honed? what about the crank journals? line honed at all?

Well, I went outside this morning to take another look. And each rod has a 3 or a 2 on it. When you look at the crank, each crank journal has a mark to the side. Two B2 and Two B3s. I know these are to the codes for the bearings, but I would assume that the rods with the 3 go on the 3 and the 2 on the 2. Would you guys happen to know anything about this?

I know people build engines, so any input or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Doesn't work that way. Those are codes for you to look up on Honda's bearing chart. You need to measure bore, piston skirt, and bearing clearances as stated by another HT member. Have fun.

Well since that same block will not have the same pistons will, I would assume all I need to measure is the are crank journals and rods right?

i had trouble matching the factory bearing codes due to the whole b16 rods in different block...it gave me way off clearances...luckily i had extra bearings lying around (although i must say i may have read it wrong)

i just bought some acl's and plastigauged and im going storng on 200 miles so far.
