Default Uneven brake-pad wear: freezing caliper?

Just did the pads, and the front left and right pads looked very different. Here are what the friction material thickness is at with the brakes squealing:

Driver outer pad: 5.0mm
Pass. outer pad: 1.5mm

Just for reference helms specifies 1.6mm as the service limit. Something going on here right?

what do you mean by front left and right pads

are you talking about just the drivers (or passengers) side left and right pad?

or are you talking about the drivers side and passengers side pads?

you can start by checking if the slider pins move freely
its pretty easy to remove, clean, and regrease them
i thnk you have to use the proper grease tho

I ad no problems removing or installing the pads, dunno. Should the pin just slide out when removing it to lube it up?

youd have to slide the boot out of the pin to remove the pin
then pull the boot out of the bracket so you can clean the inside and regreasr them

ive had stuck pins before

I'm assuming either way, the problem is with the pass. side caliper right? Under hard braking, the car does pull to the right. I'm not exactly sure what to look for. The pin moved freely, and the piston compressed back uneventfully.

how were the inside pads ?

Did you check your brakes lines ?

Could be possible that there is some type of restriction in the brake hydraulic system.

Have you bleed the brakes ?

The inner pads matched the outer pads. No air in the brakes, firm pedal.

yeah, id say you might have air in one of the brake lines. if you can depress both of the caliper pistons the same amount then that would be my guess. ive also got a seized caliper(kind of). i couldnt depress the piston past a certain point until i took the brake line off and blew some compressed air in to free it up. now i think it seizes a little.

weird suggestion. drive down a quite street with your window open on the side you think the caliper is seized on. if there is a curb it shold reflect a scraping sound back to you. i know its odd, but thats how i know mine is still seized a bit.

another way to check for a seized caliper is to feel the rim after driving, it will be excessively hot if the caliper is seized. fronts will naturally be hotter than rears after driving b/c they are take 70% or so of the load, but after just a short distance a seized caliper will heat up a rim quite a bit.
