i dont know about some of these cars! but some look ok....i think the only thing that makes them cool good is the they are sitting on some crazy offset wheels
Even if the style is ugly as hell, I like to see guys having fun with this car hobby instead of being so serious. I dont know if they mean to make the cars funny, but they definetly put a smile on my face. I respect the work put into it as well.
I believe a lot of the influence of these cars dates back to 70's-80's japanese race cars which had some insane "aero" work done to them.

Youre right Bosozoku/Yanki/Chibaragi style drew heavily from the Formula Silhouette cars of the 80's.

Most of the modern Japanese motorsport/tuning scene is rooted in this stuff.
