Default Header Cover

Hello this is my first post in this forum, even though I have been watching it for a long time.

I have a question: if i remove the header's cover will anything bad happen? i think it would look cooler this way.

thanks in advance.

The header heatshield?

I don't think anything bad will happen. It's just like putting on aftermarket headers. So no, but the color, brown rust, will make the engine look bad. I like to leave it on because I have a rubber hose in front of the header and I don't want that to crack.

But welcome. If you need more info, Accord FAQ and Guide to Accord should answer most questions. The search button on the top right will help you if you need answers need answering quickly. Remember to click on the archive option.

Welcome. Hope you stay.

I took mine off probably 2 months ago i didnt think anything of it. It makes your entire engine bay 3 times hotter so anything that shouldnt be hot is deffinately hot but my car is still running fine.

It does kinda make it look bad but if you want to do it rock on. Im actually thinking about putting mine back on until i get some aftermarket headers simply because its sh*t brown color and it feels like im standing next to the sun when i have my hood open when the car is running. But thats just me.

The heat it gives out can give you premature wear to some of the hoses and rubberized parts under your hood. Although a lot of cars out there dont have it on there and have an aftermarket header, the aftermarket headers dont give off as much heat as the stock header.

I say leave it, or polish it or something, make it look aesthetically pleasing when you pop the hood.
