Just what the topic says. I have heard it is about how good the install is but I want to hear about the alarms that you use or have used.
I have a Clifford Avant Guard
put in, also put in a bunch of kill switches (work independant of the alarm), use the ultra club (steering wheel lock), and autolock (clutch lock)... I would rate my alarm as excellent... it has a lot of safety and security features... my dads been using Cliffords since the 80's on his cars... but pretty much any alarm is as good as its install... you can get a great alarm.. but if its installed bad. its not going to do much.. or u can get a entry to mid level alarm.. and a great install and it will be harder to defeat than a bad install... make sure the wires are hidden well and the brain isnt visible/isnt just under the dash.. a quality install costs a lot of money.. so you pretty much get what you pay for.. if you go for those $399 installed deals.. your going to get a basic install..
as for me I lucked out in that my friend from elementary school (I'm out of college now) that I go way back as friends w/ him.. he installed it for me very well (all black wiring, brain hidden, very stealth) for basically the cost of meals, drinks and ciggs hahah.. it took him pretty much the whole day to install and we had my car apart.. but the wiring is hidden well, and its very hard to detect and trace what is the alarm wires and what is the stock wirelooms.. if i were to get this type of install at a shop it probably would have cost a lot of money... my friend hooked me up w/ that alarm, smart windows modules, all the sensors, kill switches, etc.. installed it... for like $750.. if i were to get the same equipment and type of install at a shop it would have cost well over $1,000 for the alarm and labor...
well on my Clifford Avant Guard system it has a lot of features.. if you do a search you'll see I've listed them a few times..
