Hey guys i have a 2000 ex civic, my cat broke awhile back, the rear honey comb stuff came out, so now i need a new cat. I was going to get a used stock one but no one has any so i have desided to get a magnaflow high flow cat. Where is the cheapest place to find one. Or if you think one of these 3 ways would be a better way to go let me know. I could get a magnaflow universal cat, magnaflow high flow cat, or keep looking for a used stock cat? Thanks for all the help

no i dont want cheap i want good, i look on the market place and no one has a obd2 or if they do its for a teggy and i dont want to have to cut and weld a new flang. What would you guys use?
don't worry about where the O2 is placed on the 96-98, it will fit your 99-00 civic as well, even better

I think i am just going to get the universal ^^^ in stead of the high flow, all ill have to do is have a shop weld 2 flang on the ends?

it will fit, I put a 98 cat in my 00 civic last year becuase it was cheaper from honda $400 instead of $900
99-00 cat has the o2 in the center because you have a little LEV sticker on your rear window which means ****
the o2 sensor wires will reach to either place on the cat

if you get the universal for ~$50 then you have to pay a shop to weld it, there probably going to rip you a new *** hole

your better off getting a 96-98 anyway it has more catalyist material in front of the o2 = less chance of P0420 catalyist innefficency code

A high-flow cat is recommended. Think, if you had a choice, and both were legal, would you spend money to buy your stock peashooter exhaust again, or a WS2? The high-flow cat gives comparable flow to a test pipe, and still operates within the proper parameters. I suggest you spend a little extra to go with the advantages of a high flow cat.

A slightly higher flowing intake will do jack ******* **** on a d16, as will a slightly higher flowing header, and a slightly higher flowing exhaust, but they do work well together for what you've spent loads of money on <u>as a system</u>.
I just don't know if the "good enough" attitude is something the D16'ers can afford to have, what with the economy class engines. Why are we arguing about this?

IMO, it's worth $30 for me to know if I've got a better flowing system than those with the standard cat.
To each his own. OP, do what you feel. If price is really a problem, just go with the standard. If $30 isn't too much of a reach for you, I say go with the high-flow.

A high flow cat will give you problems trying to get it installed. I got it from like 3 different shops in cali when I was trying to get mine welded in on my 98 and on my 99. One said it was carb legal for trucks, but not cars, another said he could put it on an obd1 civic, but not obd2.

Ok i am going to get a 96-98 2'' high flow cat from magna flow direct bolt on. Is that one in the picture high flow or universal? Do you guys agree on this set up. I have a aem v2 intake d16y8 dc ceramic header that cat(the 98) and a stock si muffler. will this cat work good for my set up?
I just had the P0420 Catalytic Efficiency Code on my 99 Si so I went to a local muffler shop where they had a carsound/magnaflow hi-flow cat (o2 sensor in the middle, OBDII). The converter did not come with the flanges so what they did was just cut the piping before the flanges on the old converter.. then mock up the new converter and weld it in. So they didnt have to unbolt anything or worry about flanges. My car seems to get alot better gas mileage even though its only been about 60 miles since I got it installed. Im happy with the decision. Carsound cat FTW!!

No im good no test pipe for me i need to pass smog. But rebuiltSI how much did it cost you. I am getting a high flow magnaflow cat direct bolt in or not i dont car. I just have to look for the cheapest one. Why would the 98 be better than the 00 i dont get it?

It cost me too much now that I found the same one online cheaper. Anyways Im happy with it and my CEL isnt on anymore so whatever. Anyways just get this one right here and have a muffler shop weld it in. You will be happy, pass emissions, and have no CEL. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWD1V
