What tranny do I have? B16
My g/f just bought a '00 Civic Coupe with an HMO B16A in it and I was driving it to the paint shop Wednesday going down the interstate at 70-75mph and I was turning about 4500 rpm.
What tranny is in her car? ys1?

From what I have been told that is about the rpm you should be at for the mph you are giving with a B16 tranny. I think at that speed the GSR would be around 4. Pretty sure its a B16.

The YS1 that came from the 92-93 GSRs. NOT to be confused with the longer geared YS1s found in 90-93 RS/LS/GS DA9s

@ 4500 RPM with a Y21 (ITR or B16) transmission you'll be going ~81mph on stock tire size.
Do yourself (and everybody else) a favor and stop referring to transmissions by that code.
Take D series transmissions for example. On all 92-95 civics, it's an S20 transmission....though the Z6 (Si/EX) transmission is shorter than the B7 (DX/LX) which is shorter than the Z1/B8(VX/CX).
Though they're all s20 transmissions, those aren't "transmission codes" like they are on an engine, they just designate the transmission's group.
S80/Y80 can be a GSR it's also some ITRs.
Then both the ITR and the Si are called Y21's.
It gets confusing as **** until you realize that they don't differentiate between all the transmissions, they're NOT "engine codes" for trannies.
In any event, u'd be doing 81mph in a B16/ITR trans, and ~88 in a GSR @ 4500 RPM.
Also take into account the stock tach is ridiculously off. So unless you have one of those ricer 5" autometer tachs - you're not really getting an accurate reading, but yeah, sounds like a B16/ITR transmission.
EDIT:
Also might wanna note that I use the term "B16/ITR" when reality they're 2 different trannies - yes they have the same gear ratio as far as 1-5 + R, but the final drive (aka. rear end) is different. It's just that to me the difference is negligible.
EDIT #2:
If she bought a B16a from H Motors Online, chances are pretty much 9 outta 10 that it came with a B16a transmission.

You're a smart ***, so do yourself and everyone else a favor and leave MY thread unless you can refrain from being a smart ***.
I do have the stock 14" steel stamps on it!
And like I said above...

...so, that being said the stock tach isn't 800 rpm off! Stock tachs are off by 300 RPMs at the most.
Obviously I have a B series tranny, but which one do I have is what I'm asking, or better yet, what final drive do I have!
