Default the shittyest day of my life!!!!!!!

today i came home from work and put my new motor mount inserts in. i was all happy my motor wasent moving anymore. i get my brand new zex nitrous box tomorrow. i paid 40 bux to get it 3 day air here so i could race on friday. but my car had other plans............

crispy

the worst part. correct me if im wrong but i WILL need a whole new harness for my car right?

i was sitting watchin PINKS when my neighbor ran over saying my car was smoking. i ran outside to see my hood with a big black spot and smoke rooling out of the hood. the battery grounded out on the intake. ****** EFs and there gay battery placement. i was just going to order a oddessy battery too cause i dident want this to happen. my and a good friend of mine are going to try to redo all we can. it will take alot of work, but this car is my baby and was pretty clean, with only 75k original miles on it. i got to atleast try to fix it. its gonna suck but i love the car to much

updates on page 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and people call me ghetto when i cover customers intakes with electrical tape around the battery post area.

but you can't blame the car,,after all, these are aftermarket parts..

doesnt look that bad though,,new distributor, fuse box, wiring harness, spark plug wires, battery, hood (maybe)..but looks like alot of plugs got fried to

holy crap man that really sucks. i hope you get it back up and running again soon. I dont know why so many people have problems with the battery grounding out on the cai though. sure you could relocate the batt. to the trunk but all i did was reverse the battery so the terminals are now on the opposite side towards the distributor and theres nothing for the neg. or pos. terminal to hit. and i have a rubber cover on the pos. terminal just for good measure. I recommend everyone should do this atleast, or move the battery to the trunk altogether.

don't worry. just find a junker and replace the parts and your ready to rock and roll!

fixing it is always the fun part.

If your car is a dx then you have to do a dx harness and do a mpfi swap.

If you use the si harness then you have to swap the cabin harness as well.

It would be alot of work to do it.

I dunno If I could handle dealingwith that mess at all. I'd pull the motor out, replace everything and while I was at it, do a wire tuck.

Good Luck

This only happens when the positive terminal comes in contact with an engine ground right(in this case CAI)?? What I mean is if the neg terminal had been touching the cai nothing would have happened right?

That is correct, negative cable is just ground...this is why you see a lot of people out there wrapping their intake tubes with electrical tape lol .

How about buying an intake that mounts up properly, and having a secured battery in the tray? Why don't people just do that?

it looks like the battery has the stock tie down, but to the intake just mounted by the silicon coupler on the intake.

Sucks that it happened but can't blame the car.

WOW that sucks man.

THe FIRST damn thing I did was protect the intake from the battery, and then relocated the battery all together.
