Default Ford and GM have "Type R"s - why won't they bring them here??

I was just reading through the latest EVO magazine (for those of you who have not read this publication yet - get it! It's total gearhead nirvana) and they test the latest offerings from Vauxhall (GM), Lotus (Ford) and the new Tommy Kaira speedster. Basically they are 200 hp (Honda or Lotus powered) 1800 hp cars with wicked body styling and available left hand drive.

The ad for the Vauxhall says "Funny how earth movers come in yellow and black" .

Since Honda is reluctant to bring the DC5 Type R to North America - maybe sports enthusiasts should instead pressure Ford/Lotus and GM/Vauxhall to bring these awesome cars to our shores.

Anybody have any other pics of these cars? I'm still searching.....

That Vauxhall/Opel Speedster looks good but the suspension is not well balanced (not so racy and too much understeer). The engine is a GM 4 cyl 2.2L 147 HP

Wow, does Ford own like every other car manufacturer now, especially the British ones (Aston Martin, Lotus, Jaguar, Land Rover). I think Cosworth is now owned by Audi/VW, not sure.

BTW - CW ownz

I saw a few Speedsters recently... they look good, but I never got a chance to hear one mashed.

I think it's an issue of crash-worthiness. If I remember correctly, the Elise couldn't pass the government's tests.
