No, but usually you want to do springs and retainers with cams.

You don't have to upgrade your valvetrain when you do cams...but I was trying to figure out if the new Si had a titanium valvetrain stock.

It depends on how agressive the cams are. Im going Skunk2 stage 2 probably and Im gonna get springs and retainers. I think if you were to go with like stage 1 then you wouldnt NEED to do springs/retainers, but I probably would anyway.

Just check out other ppl's RSX builds (even though there still dont seem to be that many). But I plan to be relatively complete with my N/A build within about a year. Waitin for my juicy tax return next spring

usually if you go with something stage 2 or stage 3 it is necessary to replace valvesprings and retainers.

and vtec killer cams would be sick with some individual throttle bodies

if your going to get cams might as well get springs and retainers, your gonna have the engine somewhat dissasembled. unless thats easy work for you... i know nothing about how to install cams, springs, retainers, valves and such...

Nobody is thinking about the lack of engine managment to make a decent tune to get real gains out of cams?

hytech is the only company so far that is offering a reflash for the 06+ si that is tailored to their cam package.

Uh, E-throttle man, going to be a while before we get ITB's if at all.

A tune would be nice and ideal, but you will still see a power gain.
Most stage 1 cams don't require upgraded valvetrain, but you shouldn't go above stock rev limit. So if you have the reflash you should be very careful. I would recommend upgrading the valvetrain while your at it.

not just incidental gains... slapping some cams in and hoping for gains (even if you do get them) is pretty bootleg.. you guys all have wonderful ideas.. cams would be great, hell I love ITB's but you're all wasting your even time thinking about it (much less buying these parts) until there is decent engine management.

didn't anyone read the thread about the guy that put in tsx cams? they are the most aggressive factory k-series cams (some would say similar to a stage 1 because you don't have to upgrade the valvetrain) and he had some peak gains, but not much overall because of lack of engine management
