Default INTERIOR MELT DOWN!!!! GAs gauge doesn't work, Temp gauge doesn't work...what to do?

Well I just got finished with my swap when I let my cousin drive my car because he was excited to drive it....blah blah....he pushed from 1st to second and all of a sudden smoke starts coming from the inside of the car.....NOT FROM THE ENGINE BAY....but as if something shorted bad.....Not sure what the problem is.....and now my radio doesn't want to work...

Has anyone ever experienced something like this??

and solutions?

First post here because I had similar problem, minus the interior fireworks display.

When I swapped the dome lightbulb w/ a non-OE style bulb it increased the load on the circuit enough to short something in the dash out. Previous owner had crammed 15amp fuse in the 10amp socket.

My tach, temp & fuel guages all went along w/ my dummy lights, turn signals and back-up lights. I never could trace it down...even w/ schematics. I ended up taking into a shop for trouble shooting and repair.

Good luck, and hopefully somebody w/ some electrical knowledge can actually help you.

yeah i would check all fuses then. try and look over all wiring that you have possibly ran in the car. then check over all wiring from factory all under the dash. i wouldnt drive it till found you dont want a electrical fire and lose everything.

well I guess I can start with the obvious first....

How could I check for the gas gauge...??

I have been stuck on the road twice this week because I ran out of gas.

Anyone?

Thanks for the previous info BTW
